Millfield, OH - With six races
under their belts, the time for excuses has come
to an end for the Youth Class GNCC ATV Racers.
Results are proving to be the factor as most of
the Youth classes have no clear dominant rider
rising to the top this early in the running. The
biggest surprise of the ‘08 GNCC race season
is the departure of one of the pre-season favorites
Seth Mumford. Seth and family have finally hung
up the Cobra and mounted up on a Honda in the
morning race in the Youth Production class. After
more than his fair share of let downs, Seth is
finally getting to finish some races. Good Luck
and welcome to the big boys time slot.
Super
Mini (12-15) Youth ATV Class: |
In the Super Mini (12-15) class we are seeing
a class that is totally up in the air. With
the Cobras being extremely fickle this season
in the wet conditions, it is a matter of who
finishes that allows the podiums to evolve.
With that said, Jerry Welch has moved into the
lead by one point over Matthew Harris and Michael
Spalding who are tied for second place. Joshua
Merritt and Ryan Ratliff both have wins, both
have been in the lead most of the races, but
both have suffered mechanicals more often than
not and are sitting well within striking distance
by the end of the season. All this class will
take is a rider that can finish the rest of
the races while saving their machines. Both
Harris and Spalding are going to have to pick
it up a notch or two if they wish to keep their
top spots.

Jerry Welch
claimed his 2nd Win of the season at
the Penton, which boosted him into the
points lead by one point over both Matthew
Harris & Michael Spalding
|
Joshua
Merritt finished 2nd at the Penton,
which was his 3rd Podium finish this
season since Georgia, so with throw-aways,
Merritt still has a shot at the Championship

90
Modified (12-15) Youth ATV Class: |
90 Mod (12-15) has had some movement in the class
as well as an all time first for the Youth GNCC
Quad series. Even though Logan Fluharty has a
four point lead, he is being chased hard by 11
year old Ryan Earley. At the mudfest we call the
John Penton, Early ran his Honda TRX90 at a pace
that overtook all of the misfiring Cobras and
landed not only the class win, but the overall
for the event. With four wins in a row, Ryan Earley
seems to be moving hard for the class championship.
Derec Robinson is still holding the third spot
with a Podium finish at Loretta Lynn's behind
Ryan Earley. One other in the class to keep an
eye on is Austin Findley. Austin is in Fourth
position now, but has been keeping a steady stream
of finishes. Keep a close watch on this class
and we will see who keeps their focus on winning.

Logan Fluharty
maintains the 90 Mod (12-15) points
lead with consistent finishes round
after round, and he currently holds
4 point lead over Ryan Earley

Ryan Earley
has been on the gas claiming four straight
wins in the 90 Mod (12-15) Class, and
he won the Overall at the Penton on
his Honda TRX90

Modified (8-11) Youth ATV Class: |

Audrey
Fox moves into the Top 10 in points
after a 3rd place finish at the Penton
|
The 90 Modified (8-11) class has Jay Shadron proving
that he is focused on taking the class championship
for the ‘08 season. With five wins and a
sixth place finish Jay is looking like the rider
to beat in the class. Logan Merriman took over
the second spot in the class after the John Penton
and is holding a slight lead over rider Gabrielle
Espinosa who is in third after six races. Brayden
Shick, Xander Auth,Gage Rickman Vincent Harris,Chase
Alkire, and Dylan Bailey are all riders that can
make a move in the class ranks with strong finishes
for the year.
One of the dark horses to keep an eye on is
tenth place Audrey Fox. The big difference is
Audrey has only made three races this year but
has been bitten by the race bug that has got
her brother and sister too. Audrey is the baby
sister of Doug Fox, 4 stroke A lites bike rider
and Jessica Fox, womens class bikes. This is
her first year on the quad but she seems to
be getting the hang of it pretty well.
