McGill’s misfortune allowed current AA
class champ and current points leader, #47AA
Cody Ellison to take over the lead. “I
was about fourth off the start and make a couple
of passes in the woods. Then Adam had issues
and I took the lead,” said Ellison.

Defending
Florida Trail Riders AA Class Champion,
Cody Ellison, took over the early lead
after McGill's mechanical issue. Ellison
would go unchallenged for the rest of
the race as he secured the AA class and
overall win with over a minute lead |
Once out front, Ellison checked out and cruised
to an easy win taking his seventh win of the
season. “It was a fun track. The whoops
got a little rough, but it was still a lot of
fun out there. It’s been a good season
so far and I really have to thank Jason Lyons
at Mona-Vie for all of his help this season,”
said Ellison.

at Gatorback Cycle Park |
Jason Lyons, is not only a sponsor of Ellison,
he also races the series in the Quad 30+ class
and took a solid win. Lyons was the only racer
in his class to complete six laps. “We
have been running this series for about six
years now. We support Cody Ellison, who is a
really great up and coming rider and we are
hoping to see him do well at River Ranch GNCC
as well. He will either be racing in the College
A or Pro-am class, we aren’t sure yet,”
Lyons added.
In the Quad A class, #332A Michael Relyea held
the lead from start to finish to secure the
class win followed by #63A James Tyson in second
and #925A Trent Johnson in third. Even going
up against the boys, Atwell put in a solid performance
and claimed the number four spot at the checkered
flag, with Jeffrey Cloud rounding out the top
five.

Women's A Class racer Angel Atwell finished
4th in the A Class |
Angel Atwell is one of the GNCC racers that
were in attendance to get in a little practice
at the FTR series before the River Ranch GNCC
season opener. Atwell has been training hard
and is preparing to battle for the Women’s
GNCC championship this year. “I came down
here a couple of weeks ago to get in a little
practice and get used to the sand. This track
isn’t really cross country though, it’s
more motocross, which isn’t something
I’m really good at, but it was good practice
and it really helped with working out any arm
pump for me,” stated Atwell, who will
be racing for Greg’s ATV again this year.
Atwell also has support from ITP, Axxis, and
Fast Forward Racing for 2012. “I feel
really prepared. It’s usually hot down
here and I am going to go out there and just
hope for the best,” said Atwell.
