Maxxis Tire's Chris Borich Wins Florida Trail Riders Round 10
Walsh Race Craft's Chris Bithell & Johnny Gallagher Round Out Pro ATV Podium

Myakka, FL – The Battle of Buffalo Creek Hare Scramble took place on Saturday, the talent field was deep and excitement was high. The tenth round of the Florida Trail Riders featured a tight six mile track with creek crossing and fast fields. Chris Borich took the win after an exciting battle with Chris Bithell. Johnny Gallagher, Gabe Phillips and Braden Henthorn rounded out the top five respectably.

The defending GNCC champion, Chris Borich, was not messing around when the green flag dropped. After taking second place at round nine he was ready to regain his place in the center of the podium. Borich got a mid-pack start and began to work his way through the field. He was held up temporarily when another rider smashed a tree, but as soon as the bottle neck cleared he put the hammer down.

Borich came through scoring on lap two in first position; he was in a heated battled with fellow Suzuki racer Chris Bithell. The wheel to wheel excitement lasted the entire race and gave the fans something to cheer for. Borich took the checkers on the last lap with a little room to spare. He and Bithell crossed the finish over two minutes ahead of the rest of the class.

“I wasn’t messing around today. I came here to win and I did,” said Borich.
Chris Bithell took second, earning his best finish this year aboard his new Suzuki. The Pennsylvania based racer got off to a mid-pack start and began picking off the field to get near the front. Quick passes got the racer to second position on lap two. Bithell continued a heated battle with Borich for the entire race and even led a few laps.

“I battled with Borich all day and my Suzuki was working great. Hoping for the same results at the national, Suzuki first and second,” regarded Bithell after the race.

Johnny Gallagher and Gabe Phillips paired up during the race and battled from start to finish. The two Yamaha racers went wheel to wheel, adding to the excitement of the race. Gallagher edged out Phillips on the last lap to round out the top three.

“I had a good race; it was fun to run with Johnny (Gallagher) and finally get a finish at an FTR,” said Phillips who had bad luck at the last two rounds and was unable to finish.

Braden Henthorn rounded out the top five. The rookie put in a strong race; he got the Pro ATV holeshot and led most of the first lap.  Walker Fowler and Pat McGuire also lined up at the race, although neither finished. Fowler pulled off on the white flag lap due to issues with his hand and McGuire had some mechanical issue that ended his day.

There are just three short weeks until the GNCC opener on March 10, and we can only expect more Pro’s to head south and put in some training in the sand. Round 11 of the FTR series will take place at Gatorback, FL on March 3.
