Aza, MO (8/4/2007) - Round 5 of the Extreme
Dirt Track Series just wrapped up tonight in Ava, MO at
the Ozark Mountain ATV Raceway, and the Curtis Sparks
Racing’s Frank Batista secured his first ever Pro
EDT win by leading the race from start to finish with
Mitch Reynolds and Shane Hitt rounding out the Podium.
Harold Goodman managed to secure the fourth spot after
tangling with Brad Riley at the start among other issues,
but Goodman’s finish was more than enough to maintain
the Pro points lead(133 Pts) over Shane Hitt(114 Pts)
with the gap only narrowed by three points.
Lost Creek Cycles’ Mitch Reynolds had the Ozark
track dialed in as he recorded the fastest Pro Heat race
time, which was several seconds faster than either Goodman
or Hitt. Reynolds second place finish was a career best,
which couldn’t have come at a better time with Batista
claiming his first ever win and tightening up the race
for the third spots in the pro points. Reynolds(94pts)
and Batista(91pts) are now only separated by 3 points
as they head into the final stretch of the season.
Chuckie Creech put in another impressive race running
in the top three for the majority of the Pro race, but
would drop back to fifth place at the checkered flag.
Retired pro racer, Jackie Meadows, made a surprise
appearance on a Suzuki LTR450, but wasn’t able
to make things happen as he ran into problems in both
Pro and ProAm Production races.
The ProAm Production Race win was secured by Harold
Goodman. During the race, a rock hit Reynolds in head,
which prompted a trip to the hospital for stitches after
the race, but amazingly he didn’t miss a beat
and charged his way to a second place finish ahead of
Frank Batista.
Tim Farr once again dominated the ProAm Unlimited Class
on his KTM 450XC after a brief challenge by Brandon
Hill early in the race. Farr’s win was his third
of the season as he extends his points lead over Hill.
Trent Powell earned his best finish of the season rounding
out the Podium.
