Ashtabula, OH -
The Extreme Dirt Track ATV racing series
made its way to round 6 of the series taking place
at the famous Pine Lake Track and Trails nestled
in beautiful Ashtabula, Ohio. This year marked
the 44th year of the event, America's oldest ATV
race.
Practice Friday kicked off the weekend and we saw nothing but beautiful weather and plenty of seat time for the racers. Saturday however, was a different story. The day began simple with some overcast skies in the very early morning but soon turned to a strong and steady drizzle, which lasted the entire day and evening. Luckily for the racers and fans, this track is known for its ability to disperse water quickly and come Sunday, the track was in perfect racing order once it was worked in!

Saturday got to be a bit of a bore until someone came up with the idea of a golf cart wheelie contest! Multiple people gathered their buddies and loaded the rear end of their carts down to ride the furthest wheelie. It was a success with many people joining in! After this, the cross country race kicked off and saw EDT Pro racer Kirby Cooke taking the hole shot aboard his Honda 450R and leading the majority of the race. Local XC racer Dalton Williams eventually passed Cooke in a back section of the woods and took the win.
The Pro class was a spectacle to watch as #708 Harold Goodman was the man to beat here at Pine Lake. Being the closest track to his home in Michigan along with also being one of his most frequented and earliest tracks to be raced on, Goodman is always at the top of his game here.

Harold Goodman lead the Pro Class Main from start to finish |
Honda East / Rage / Hoosier's Goodman showed
us just how true these facts were as the pros
tore off the concrete starting line with Goodman
pounding trough the gears and coming out with
the holeshot. He then put the hammer down and
began to run around with the lead up front as
the rest of the pack behind him began their own
dog fight. Goodman rode smoothly the entire race
and never made a mistake. The laps ticked away
and Goodman remained to be the man up front and
secured a very solid win, pushing him to the front
of the points chase heading into the final 2 rounds
at the end of August in Batavia, NY.

Goodman holds down the Extreme Dirt Track
Pro Points lead |
“It’s always easiest to go out there
and get the holeshot and stay clean, the track
was really nice this year and I knew it was going
to be fast and technical. I also knew Riley was
gonna be a huge contender this weekend and I saw
he was back a few spots towards the beginning
of the race so I really pushed hard for the first
part of the race to try to get that gap going.
My Rage motor and Hoosier tires hooked up awesome
off the line and there were a lot of jumps on
the track this year and the Elka Suspension made
the ride smooth and controllable over all of them!”
said Goodman on the podium.
