Garretson, SD (6/22/2013) - Extreme
Dirt Track racers made the trip west for the double
header round in Garretson, South Dakota at the Sioux
Valley Cycle Club. Many racers arrived midweek for
the annual ATV / SxS parade through the town the
Garretson and several state parks on Wednesday and
around 80 vehicles participated in the parade. Round
3 of the double header was held on Friday with all
the race action wrapped up just before sunset, which
attracted a large crowd of spectators to watch the
evening racing action.

The weather was picture perfect on Friday, and
the track crew did a great job of preparing the
track, which was longer than many of the tracks
in the series, and it had two option lane sections
for increased passing opportunities.

In the Pro ATV main, Daryl Rath grabbed the holeshot
as racers bounced off of each other behind him
with #338 Brain Ace getting the worst of it when
his tie-round mount broke off the spindle, which
ended his race before he even made it to the first
turn.

it looked like it was going to turn ugly,
but in the end, only Brian Ace was left
with a broken spindle on his Honda 450R,
which ended his race before it even really
began |
By the end of the first lap, Walsh’s Michael
Coburn made the pass on Rath to take over the
lead followed by Rath and Chuckie Creech. Once
out front, Coburn ran away from the pack as he
went to on claim his first win of the season.

“I was a little worried off the start.
I had to squeeze in and made it work. My Walsh/PEP
set up was working well and my engine had a lot
of power. Everything just worked really well,”
said Coburn.
