Muskogee, OK (5/30/2013) – Houser Racing’s Harold Goodman continued to show his dominance at Hatbox Field in Oklahoma this past weekend. Goodman took the win in both the Pro and Pro-am classes, and was joined on the Pro podium by Josh Hibdon and Michael Coburn at round number two of the 2013 Extreme Dirt Track series.

Hatbox Field is a new location for the series, this season, and features baseball, football and soccer fields as well as a skate park and the newly designed ATV dirt track that was built by Tonto Construction. The track is located right in the heart of the city, making things very convenient for fans, racers and their families who attend.

The track consisted of an asphalt starting line, which was actually part of an old airstrip, on the 343 acre facility, with a long front straight-away. There were high-speed sweepers, a big off camber turn as well as a couple of well-designed option lanes. “I really liked how the track was laid out. They did a really good job with that. I also liked that we were able to pit on the old airstrip, instead of in dirt. The fact that the facility is right in town is also nice,” stated Harold Goodman.

There were storm warnings in the forecast for part of the weekend, but luckily the major weather events held off, giving dry conditions all around.

PRO ATV MAIN RACE REPORT

Michael Coburn - Honda 450R ATV
#038 Michael Coburn placed third in the EDT Pro Class on his Walsh Race Craft Honda 450R ATV

In the Pro main event, Michael Coburn got the jump off the start, but Harold Goodman was right on him and was able to make the pass before the first turn, earning him the holeshot. From there, Goodman made it look easy and led from start to finish for his second win of the season. “My Rage ATV motor put out some really good power this weekend and that helped me to get by Michael (Coburn) before the first turn. I was actually a little worried about the start because I blew the first turn in both of my heat races earlier in the day, but I just calmed down and did what I needed to do,” said Goodman.

Josh Hibdon, who made his Pro debut this season, not only claimed his pro heat race win, but also finished in second, giving him his first-ever pro podium finish in the series. Hibdon, who has been able to dedicate himself to the series more this year than in season’s past made it known that he is a good competitor.

#24 Josh Hibdon grabbed the Pro Heat race win & placed second at Round 2

Hibdon did have to work for his second place finish, as he was behind Michael Coburn off the start and pursued the veteran racer for most of the race before opting for the less favored option lane in the last couple of laps. Hibdon put the hammer down and took over the number two spot and held off Coburn all the way to the checkered flag for his second place finish.

Michael Coburn was back on the podium for this round and was looking strong in the Pro class main event. Coburn shot off the start and was in the lead, but was shut out by Harold Goodman in the first turn, putting Coburn back to second place. Coburn kept a fast pace, but was under pressure from Josh Hibdon. Coburn was able to hold off Hibdon for most of the race, but fell back with just a couple of laps left to finish in a solid third place on the pro podium.
