Can-Am
/ Motowork's Jeremy attracted plenty of
attention at the Big Six Grand Prix |
Adelanto, CA - Racetown 395 was the hosting
facility for round seven of the Big 6 Grand Prix
series, where several familiar faces in ATV racing
showed up to get in some off season practice and
testing. Team MCR, who regularly attends the WORCS
series and features riders Mike Cafro, Levi Marana,
Julie Russell and new for next year, Beau Baron
took three of the top five positions in the Expert
class, but it was Can-Am/Motoworks’ Jeremy
Lawson who ran away with the win.
The course that was laid out was six miles of
high-speed desert terrain with a one-mile motocross
section thrown in the mix. “It was really
a lot of just wide open riding. It was a lot of
fun,” said Jeremy Lawson who had never raced
a grand prix style race before.

6 Grand Prix normal front runner Robert
Cockrell grabbed the Holeshot, but he was
quickly over taken in lap One |
As racers left the line for what would be a 45 minute
race, it was local #1 pro, Robert Cockrell who took
the holeshot, with Jeremy Lawson in second, ITP
Quadcross Expert class champ, and David Haagsma
in third, with Beau Baron and Mike Cafro hot on
his heals. In the first lap, Jeremy Lawson was running
strong, and wowing spectators, as he launched off
the longest table top on the track and cleared it.
“I hit that big table top out there the first
lap and I’m not used to running big cross
country tires, so I landed a little hard. After
that I kind of backed off a bit,” said Lawson.
Even with backing off, it didn’t take long
for Lawson to take over the lead. Lawson went for
the pass on Cockrell in the first lap and then proceeded
to check out.

way through the desert sections and when
he hit the motocross track, Lawson nailed
the huge setup table top on the first lap
and quickly began to pull away from the
