PRO ATV MOTO Two - Continued

In lap nine, things began to get ugly as the rain began to fall. The heavy shower soon saturated the track causing slick conditions, which had a huge impact on the top five racers. “I was coming into a downhill section and I started to slide. I ended up flipping, but I got back on and kept going,” said Dustin Wimmer, who’s mishap sent him back to 4th place and allowed Lawson and Creamer to take over 2nd and 3rd.

During the 9th lap, the skies opened up and dramatically changed the track conditions, which sent Wimmer flipping down the slick big downhill and out of the lead

John Natalie also had a spill in moto two, which sent him to the back of the pack. “I caught a rut coming down a hill and flipped, but it was probably one of the easiest get-off’s I’ve had,” he said. John got back on and proceeded to lay down the fastest lap time of the day at 01:45.496. John’s determination moved him into 11th by the tenth lap, but the mud and rain caused visibility problems for him, which slowed him down and caused him to fall back to 12th.

Can-Am's Sage Baker was charged his way from 12th to a 7th place finish passing Joe Byrd on the final lap, which was a season best for Baker

Harold Goodman who had been running in the top five ran into mechanical issues in lap twelve and ended his day with a DNF, which was a first for Goodman in over a year. Chad Wienen was having a better time of things in moto two. Despite a slow start, the Suzuki racer kept his head down and soon worked his way into the number five spot. Sage Baker, who had come off the line in mid pack, was able to consistently work his way up until reaching 7th place.

As racers began to cross the finish line, it was Doug Gust who would take the moto two win and the top spot on the podium. “It’s really a great feeling to be able to still come out here and win especially considering the level of competition that’s out there now,” said Gust. “Everyone has really stepped it up this year and for me to still be competitive and within reach of second in the points race makes me feel very fortunate,” he concluded.

Right behind Gust was Can-Am’s Jeremy Lawson in 2nd and Josh Creamer in 3rd. Josh’s 1-3 finish allowed him to take 2nd on the podium, which is his best finish to date, while Dustin Wimmer claimed 3rd overall and increased his points lead even further over Joe Byrd, who is currently standing in second. Jeremy Lawson’s 6-2 finishes allowed him 4th overall and Kawasaki’s Keith Little rounded out the top five.

It was a big day for the Kawasaki team as all three team members had strong finishes with Josh and Keith both finishing in the top five and Russell Shumaker finishing in eighth place overall. “It was a big day for all of us,” said Creamer. “We’ve all been working really hard and it’s paying off.”
