Chris Borich dominates AM and PM races at Round 5 of the AGP Series!
Round 5 of the Atlantic Grand Prix ATV Cross-Country Series heads to Thunder Ridge.

Atlantic Grand Prix: Round 5
New Berlin, NY (7/1/06) - Thunder Ridge of New Berlin, NY was the site for Round 5 of the Atlantic Grand Prix Series. The weather was just as the weatherman predicted, 90 degrees and sunny. Riders spent their idle time before their races keeping hydrated under tents and overhangs trying to escape the blazing sun. Dale and the AGP Crew designed an excellent course consisting of wide trails and natural terrain motocross sections. Water build-up created some muddy sections that were outfitted with bypasses which opened up more passing opportunities that added a great deal of excitement to the race. GNCC riders Rob Hertz and Sean Neidlinger were in attendance for round 5 to Give GNCC Pro and AGP Pro class point leader Chris Borich a run for his money. Stefanie Verkade also returned to defend her AGP Women’s points lead.

Atlantic Grand Prix Series Promoter Dale Freitas strived to put together an excellent race for the youth riders. Austin Findley out of New Providence, PA rode extremely well and took overall in the youth race. Jeremy Wayland finished second place and Dylan Kralle finished in a very close third place.

Chris Borich on his Honda Rincon
The Morning Race had a surprise entry with Chris Borich breaking out his Honda Rincon to compete in the Utility Modified class for some extra seat time before the next WPSA Quadterrain Challenge race in Illinois, and Borich wasted no time working his way to the front of the pack and claiming the overall win on his utility ATV. Christopher Peipher, James Wilson, and Stephanie Verkade finished only seconds behind Borich putting them in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place overall respectively.

Chris Borich
Chris Borich was back in action for the Afternoon Race, but he wasn’t off to a great start as he had trouble starting his Honda 450R. This gave Rob Hertz, Sean Neidlinger along with the rest of the pro class a chance to put some time on the hard charging Borich, but it wasn’t enough because by the end of lap one, Borich had already taken over the lead.

With the sun still scorching the racers, several of them dropped out of the race early, but not Borich as he charged his way to yet another Atlantic Grand Prix victory with Rob Hertz finishing in second closely followed by Sean Neidlinger in third. Pro Am rider, Blake Kramer put in an impressive ride taking the Pro Am win and the finishing 5th overall.

The next race is Round 6 at the Logan Farm on July 8th and 9th. The Logan Farm is a Thoroughbred Horse Rehabilitation Farm, that’s located just south of Cortland, New York. Proceeds from the gate fee go to saving these horses from becoming DOG FOOD! This course is one the best cross country locations of the AGP Series. 8 miles in length, the course is a combination of Hay fields with winding woods roads and woods trails.
