AMA ATV Motocross Nationals Round #3 - Ballance Moto-X Bowling Green, Kentucky April 27, 2013

Bowling Green, KY (4/29/2013) – Mother Nature made a return appearance at the third round of the AMA Mtn. Dew MX National Championship Series.  Twenty three pro racers took to the gate at Ballance Moto-X and Wienen Motorsports / SSi Decals Chad Wienen scored 1-3 to earn his second win of the season and further extend his points lead. Motosport.com's John Natalie Jr. earned second and Wienen Motorsports / Maxxis Tire’s Thomas Brown rounded out the pro podium.

Mother Nature once again had her effect on AMA ATV MX Round 3 at Ballance MX. Heavy rain soaked the track for Pro Moto 1 but that didn't detour the spectators

Heavy rain pounded the motocross track and turned the first moto into a mudfest for the racers. Luckily, by moto two the skies had cleared a bit and the track crew used a dozer to skim some of the thick mud off the track.

Maxxis' Chad Wienen grabbed his first SSi Decals Pro Moto Holeshot of the season aboard his Yamaha YFZ450R ATV at Ballance MX

Chad Wienen knew he needed to get his #44 Yamaha out front early to best both the competition and the mud. Wienen grabbed the ATVriders.com Fastest Qualifier Award and earned the first gate pick for moto one. Wienen also went on to secure his first SSi Decals Holeshot Award of the season. He maintained the lead for the entire moto, turning the fastest lap on lap two, an impressive 01:37.751. Wienen’s charge continued through all thirteen laps. He consistently gapped the rest of the field and won the moto by 25.160.

#1 Chad Wienen remains the Pro Points Leader after round 3 with a 12 point lead

The second moto didn’t go as smooth for the #44; he had a rear pack start and pushed to seventh by the end of lap one. He got into several tight battles as he pushed towards the front of the pack and finally took over the third spot on lap twelve. Wienen’s 1-3 finishes earned him the top spot for the weekend; this is Wienen’s second win of the season and he further extended his points lead.

Motosport.com's John Natalie Jr. earned his first podium of the season by scoring 5-1 at Ballance MX. The #13 was late to the line for the first moto and didn’t get a great gate pick. After being splattered with mud and loosing most of the clear vision in his goggles, he moved into fifth by the end of lap one. He remained there until the checkers.
