Hetrick
Racing's #88 Joel Hetrick took over the
lead & recorded the fastest laptime
of the race in lap 3 |
Can-Am/Motoworks’ Joel Hetrick claimed
the ATVRiders.com Fastest Qualifier award again
and was looking incredibly fast and smooth. Joel
Hetrick was on fire in the first moto, despite
a rough and choppy track. Hetrick was in second
off the start behind Chad Wienen and stayed very
close. Hetrick shadowed Wienen for a couple of
laps and then made his move and took over the
lead in lap three, where he also recorded the
fastest lap time of the race with a time of 01:42.231.
Once out front, there was no stopping him. Hetrick
increased his lead with every lap and took the
checkered flag by over seven seconds ahead of
second place.

Motoworks'
#88 Joel Hetrick secured his first Moto
win of the season with an impressive margin
of nearly 10 seconds over #44 Chad Wienen
in the second spot
|
Moto two was a little tougher for Hetrick as
he was back in eighth place off the line. Despite
the not so stellar start, Hetrick put the hammer
down and quickly worked his way into fourth place
behind his teammate, John Natalie. Hetrick stayed
close and began to apply the pressure and after
a couple of laps, Hetrick was able to slip under
Natalie and take over third. Hetrick then closed
in on Josh Upperman, who was running in the number
two spot right behind Chad Wienen. Hetrick tried
to pressure Upperman, but Upperman was on top
of his game for moto two and wasn’t giving
in easily.

DWT's
#88 Joel Hetrick made the pass on #20
Josh Upperman in lap 8, which allowed
him to begin to close the gap on #44 Chad
Wienen in the lead

FOX's
#88 Joel Hetrick finished in the 2nd spot,
which scored Hetrick the 2nd spot on the
podium with a 1-2 finish |
Hetrick made a couple of attempts, but was shut
down, so he decided to get creative and began
trying different lines. One of those lines worked
and gave Hetrick the advantage he needed to get
by Upperman and take over second. Hetrick tried
to chase down Wienen from there, but his earlier
charges, combined with the heat caused Hetrick
to tire and settle in for a second place finish
for moto two and second on the pro podium.
“It was hard to pass out there but I got
around and caught up. It took a lot out of me
and I got a little tired, but I gave it my all
out there and I made I on the podium, so I’m
pretty happy overall. This really helps me in
points and I just want to go out there and keep
winning motos. I have to thank Can-Am, Motoworks,
DWT; all of my sponsors and everyone who has helped
me out here today,” said Hetrick.
