Yamaha's
#44 Chad Wienen charged his way from a last
place start to claim the 3rd Spot in Moto
One |
Yamaha’s Chad Wienen was out front and bar-to-bar
with Josh Upperman off the start, but the pair collided
in the first turn, sending both racers to the back
of the pack. Wienen was able to get going again
and was on a mission. Wienen went from dead last
to eighth by the second lap and was not slowing
down anytime soon. Wienen kept on the gas and by
the midway point, took over the number three spot.
Wienen began to close the gap on Thomas Brown, who
was holding down second, but ran out of time and
settled for third at the finish line.
For moto two, Chad Wienen was on a mission and
took the lead after just a few laps. Once out
front, Wienen checked out. Wienen increased his
lead with every lap and cruised to the finish
line with a 12 second lead. Wienen’s 3-1
finishes put him on the podium in the number two
spot for the day.

Yamaha's
#44 Chad Wienen took the Moto Two Win
for the 2nd spot on the Podium
|
“It was pretty dusty out there for the
first moto and I couldn’t see anything and
that’s how Josh and I got together, so I
knew for the second moto I needed to get a good
start. I was able to get out front early and I
just rode my own race,” said Wienen.

Yamaha's
#84 Thomas Brown challenged Natalie for
the win in Moto One |
Yamaha/Ballance Racing’s Thomas Brown was
looking strong as he came off the start in the number
three spot for the first moto. Brown put the hammer
down and moved into second when Joel Hetrick dropped
back. Brown then closed in on John Natalie, who
was in the lead and took the lead briefly, but fell
back to second when Natalie fought back. Brown stayed
close and maintained his second place position at
the checkered flag.
Brown was looking solid in the second moto as
well. Brown got a good start and moved into third
after a few laps. Brown rode a solid and consistent
race and held off Josh Upperman, who closed in
late in the moto. Brown took his third place finish
all the way to the checkered flag, which put him
in third overall for the day and gave him his
first podium finish of the season.
“It was a good battle out there and I am
really excited to be on the podium. We’ve
been working hard all season and it paid off this
round,” said Brown.
