Heather
Byrd took the win in the Women's Class after
taking some time off from racing |
Heather Byrd returned to the Women’s class
for this round and was out to prove that even
though she is not attending all of the rounds
this season; she is still on top of her game.
In the first moto, Byrd had her hands full as
she battled it out with Kelsey Dyer and Adrienne
Cooper, where she finished in second, but in moto
two, Byrd was out to make a statement. The #14
Honda grabbed the holeshot and led from start
to finish, taking the moto two win and the overall
for the day. “It like home away from home
for me here and it felt really good to be back.
I may not be hitting all the rounds, but it’s
still a lot of fun for me to be able to come out
here and see everyone and have the fans cheer
me on,” said Byrd, who plans to attend a
few more rounds before the end of the season.
Women’s class points leader, Adrienne Cooper
was looking fast and smooth in the first moto
as she crossed the finish line in first. In the
second moto, Cooper also ran a solid race and
finished in second, for second overall.
Kelsey Dyer led briefly in the first moto, but
gave up her lead to Cooper early in the race.
Dyer held on for a third place finish in moto
one and claimed a fourth place finish in moto
two, for the final spot on the Women’s podium.
