Natalie’s 2-2 finishes put him in second
overall for the day. “It was a good track
today and I had to two good motos. It was really
close between Chad and I and he got me right at
the end, but I’m on the podium and I’m
happy about that. I have to thank Can-Am, Motoworks
and everyone who helped me get to the podium today,”
said Natalie.

Can-Am's
#13 John Natalie Jr. held the lead over
#44 Chad Wienen till the final lap when
dropped back to the second spot in the whoops
section, which earned Natalie a 2-2 finish
for 2nd Overall |
Baldwin Motorsports’ Josh Upperman, who
has been working with Tim Farr in the off season,
did not disappoint as he grabbed the moto one
holeshot, but he was not alone as he had Natalie,
Wienen and Hetrick all in the hunt for the lead
right behind him. Upperman eventually fell back
to the number four spot, but was able to reclaim
third when Hetrick went down.

Baldwin's #20 Josh Upperman grabbed the
Moto One Holeshot & lead, but in the
end he dropped back to the third spot, which
was still a great start to the season |
Upperman rode unchallenged for the rest of the
moto and took the number three position at the
checkered flag. “I put my head down and
tried to pull away but everyone is really fast
out there today. We still have one more moto,
so we will see what happens,” said Upperman.
For moto two, Josh Upperman grabbed his season
holeshot, but fell back early in the first lap
to the number three spot once again. Upperman
had a good gap between himself and the rest of
the pack, allowing his to cruise to a third place
finish and take third overall for the day.

Motorsport's #20 Josh Upperman was able
to edge out Can-Am's #13 John Natalie
for the Moto Two Holeshot, but Upperman
would quickly drop back to the third spot,
which is where he stayed to the checkered
flag for a 3-3 Podium finish
|
“I had a really good race today. I got
great starts and the competition was really intense.
I’m really stoked to start the season on
the podium. I have to thank Baldwin Motorsports,
PEP shocks and everyone who is supporting our
efforts this season,” said Upperman from
the podium.

Yamaha / Ballance Racing’s Thomas Brown has
spent the past several weeks recovering from ankle
surgery, but despite some lost time from riding,
Brown looked as good as ever as he got off to a
top five start in moto one, and he would go on to
inherit the fourth spot with Hetrick going down,
which he maintained unchallenged to the checkered
flag in moto one.

Yamaha
's #84 Thomas Brown had a great showing
in Moto One as he went unchallenged to secure
the 4th spot |
In
Moto Two, #84 Thomas Brown charged his way
into another Top 5 finish, which secured
him 4th Overall on the day |
Moto two was also good for Brown as he shot off
the start in the number five spot and worked up
to fourth after just two laps. Brown then came
under fire from a charging Joel Hetrick and fell
back to fifth. Brown stayed in the number five
spot and would claim fourth overall for the day.
“My goal this year is to finish consistently
and be in the top five every round. I was able
to make that happen today so I feel pretty good.
I have to thank Yamaha and Ballance Racing. We
have all been working hard and I think this is
going to be a good season for us,” stated
Brown.
