AMA ATV MX Nationals
- Sunset Ridge - Pro ATV Race Report
::Continued::
|
Walsh's
#16 Jeremy Lawson |
Walsh Race Craft’s Jeremy Lawson started
moto one in sixth place and had his hands full
as Thomas Brown came up from behind to challenge
him. After a brief battle Lawson would find himself
in seventh. Lawson would also encounter some issues
with his quad and hung on as he crossed the finish
line in seventh.
In the second moto, it appeared that Lawson was
possibly still struggling with some issues as he
came off the line in eighth place. Lawson hung on
and was able to muster a seventh place finish for
seventh overall.

Honda's
Joe Byrd made the switch to red & PEP
Suspension for Sunset Ridge |
American Honda’s Joe Byrd came off the
line in eleventh place and held his position for
half of the race before he began to move forward.
Byrd picked off Devin Heimes and Travis Moore
before finishing in ninth place.
It looked as if Byrd was able to rebound a little
in moto two as he was able to make his way up from
a ninth place start to finish in the number six
spot, giving him eighth overall.

Motosport's Nick DeNoble |
Nick DeNoble was in seventh off the start in
moto one and was battling hard against Thomas
Brown in the first lap. DeNoble fell back to eighth,
where he would spend the entire moto. DeNoble
again claimed an eighth place finish in moto two
after Jeremy Lawson and Joe Byrd were able to
get by him. DeNoble’s 8-8 finishes put him
in ninth place overall for the day, a far cry
from his podium finish at round four.
Rookie pro Adam Clark put together a couple of
consistent motos, going 11-10 to round out the
top ten overall, his best pro finish so far. Mushin
Racing’s Travis Moore ran into trouble and
fell back in moto one for a thirteenth place finish
but would rebound a bit in moto two, to finish
in ninth, giving him eleventh overall. Derek Swartfager’s
12-11 finishes put him in 12th with Devin Heimes
close behind in 13th.
Harold Goodman hung on to finish 14th overall
with Jonathan Ven John taking 15th. Ronnie Higgerson
just couldn’t catch a break as mechanical
issues plagued him in both motos, and ended his
day in 16th overall.
Round number six of the 2011 AMA ATV Motocross
Championships will be heading to Delmont, PA,
where Steel City will play host on May 21st –
22nd as Chad Wienen and John Natalie will battle
it for the points lead and Joel Hetrick will be
trying his best to make his second podium of his
career.
