AMA ATV MX Nationals - Mill Creek - Pro-Am ATV Race Report
::Continued::

Blue Rok Racing's Mark Madl
Blue Rok Racing's Mark Madl had quite a battle with Casey Martin in Moto two & ended up pulling away with Moto two win
Blue Rok Racing’s Mark Madl has been stomping his way to the top of this series for many years and the start to this season would be no different. Madl sits third in points after the first two rounds but that doesn't quite tell the story. Madl’s first motos in both rounds have been just a touch off pace when the checkered flag came out, and if he can get things worked out and bring those moto one finishes inside the top five, things are going to get interesting. Madl has all the ingredients he needs to find that number one slot, and expectations are that he will bring home wins this season.

If you look at the results after the top three, there are some big names absent which have opened the door for several riders. Jesse Barnes and Craig porter hold down fourth and fifth respectively while Jeffrey Rastrelli sits just outside the top five in sixth. Rastrelli claimed a podium finish with his third in the first moto of the opening round but has since suffered from problems that have him well off the pace for a rider of his caliber.

Sean Taylor - Honda TRX450R ATV
Ronnie Higgerson - Suzuki LTR450 ATV

#199 Sean Taylor had quite a season debut with placing fourth overall in Pell City

After a battle with Mark Madel, Ronnie Higgerson rounded out top 5 in Moto two

The same holds true for the likes of Nick Moser and Cole Henry who both are expected to climb much higher in the class ranking as the season progresses. One name missing from the Pro AM class for round two was that of Devin Heimes. Heimes found success at the first round claiming the moto one win but has decided to set his sights on the Pro class and Pro AM Unlimited, opening yet another spot for Pro AM racers to take advantage of.

While the season is still young, the top riders are already shaping the chase for the championship. With the changes to the race program in place, we have already seen some mixing it up as riders take advantage of the opportunity to compete on both days at different levels. The new format has been met with some mixed emotions and while it may take some time for everyone to get accustomed to, it is yet to be seen if the changes will be effective or worthwhile.

There has definitely been a drop in anticipation of the Pro-Am Production race as the big show fires off on Saturday in its entirety. Love it or hate it, the gate will drop and the Pro-Am Production class will be battling no matter what day they race on.
