In
Moto 1, Doug Gust scored a 3rd place finish
after challenging Josh Upperman for the
2nd Spot in the final laps of the Moto |
“Digger” Doug Gust was on a mission
for round seven and that mission being a podium
position. Gust was second off the line in the first
moto and was pressuring leader Josh Upperman for
several laps. Gust was holding strong despite pressure
from Chad Wienen who was not able to get around
Gust for six laps. Gust would drop back to third
where he would finish moto one.
In moto two, Gust was in for a battle from start
to finish, as he was second off the line with
John Natalie right on his heels. A dramatic battle
began to brew that last all the way to the final
turn, when in a last ditch effort, Natalie made
his move when Gust lost his front brakes, giving
Natalie the advantage he was looking for. In the
final turn right before the finish line, Natalie
made his move, barely edging out Gust as the pair
crossed the finish line.

In
Moto 2, Suzuki's Doug Gust held the 2nd
spot for nearly the entire race with Can-Am's
John Natalie Jr in his shadow for the
entire moto till the final turn of the
race, Natalie made his move on Gust and
made the pass stick to take over the 2nd
spot as the pair launched over the finish
line jump battling for the position with
Gust going off the track as he tried to
recover his position. Regardless, Gust
3rd place finish good enough for 2nd Overall
on the Podium ahead of Natalie

Amazingly
the 42 year old, Doug Gust has Podiumed
twice this year as he continues to dominate
riders half is age |
“It was quite a battle out there, but I was
really happy to be back up on the podium, hopefully
next round I will be up there again in the number
one spot,” said Gust, who attributed his success
to some rather unorthodox training methods. “I’ve
been playing a lot of golf,” Gust said with
a laugh. Although golf has been on his agenda lately,
Gust has no plans of slowing down anytime soon.
Can-Am Warnert Racing’s John Natalie was
able to put together two solid motos this round
to claim the final spot on the podium. Natalie
was seventh off the line in moto one and began
to work his way up to claim the number five spot
before crossing the finish line.

In
Moto One, John Natalie challenged Jeremy
Lawson the entire moto, but was never
able to make the pass with Lawson claiming
the 4th spot followed by Natalie in 5th
|
In moto two, Natalie was n third place off the
line behind Doug Gust and had his work cut out
for him as he trailed Gust for the entire moto
until just before the finish line.
“Doug is tough to pass and the track was
getting pretty single lined so I just had to wait
for an opportunity and I found one when we went
into the last corner,” said Natalie, who
grabbed second place away from Gust only seconds
before crossing the finish line. “This is
my first podium of the season and I am really
happy about it and next round I am looking for
a win,” Natalie stated.
