AMA ATV Harescramble Series
Race Report - Round 1
::Continued::
Unfortunately for McClure, his race was cut short
near the 3/4 way mark as his Polaris Outlaw ran
into some overheating issues and he was forced
to retire near the timing booth at the top of
the final hill of the 5.4 mile course. Leaving
Borich, Kramer, and Thomas with no pressure the
rest of the race.

in the race his engine overheated and ended

The red Suzuki of Chris Borich was unmistakeable
as he cruised the 5.4 mile course with ease,

In the 4x4 Open Class, Rick Cecco and Zac Zakowski
were the two top dogs of the day on their Can-Am
Outlander 800 ATVs blistering off the line back
on the 10th row and heading to the holeshot. It
seemed as if Cecco was going to steal all the
glory but with Cecco going wide, Zakowski swept
in and took the holeshot with ease. Following
the two Can-Am mounted riders were Dave Porzi
on his Kawasaki and Andrew Winters on his Yamaha.
Porzi and Winters would later succumb to the #190
of Douglas Axline on his Can-Am Renegade who took
3rd on the day.

Zac Zakowski made the trek all the way from Wisconsin
for this race and he was determined to show his
strength and skills on tight courses such as this
one in the Keystone state. Coming off a career
first win in the Can-AM GNCC Series, Zac was feeling
good and had his quad dialed in for the day.

Harescramble |
“ I Felt that I learned a lot more about myself
from this race, and I’m looking to bring that
to the GNCC’s. The Can-am ran good all day,
and the only issues we had were breaking the footboards
behind the pegs from the motocross sections of the
track. The track itself, catered to my riding style
a lil better than most tracks because I liked the
tight wooded sections and the steep, slippery uphills.
My Janssen motor pulled all the way around the track,
and my Elka suspension really soaked up the big
hits.” said Zakowski after the race. Zac will
be competing in the Loretta Lynn’s GNCC on
April 24th-25th in Hurricane Mills, TN in hopes
for another podium.
The next round of the ATV National Hare Scrambles
Championship Series will head West to Rhinelander,
WI for the Sugar Camp Racing facilities on May
29th.
