Maxxis Zilla Utility ATV Tire Long Term Review
::Continued::

Maxxis Zilla Utility ATV Tire
Even with the aggressive tread pattern and larger tread depth, the Maxxis Zilla tires did not seem to rob our Kawasaki Brute Force 650 Utility ATV of power
“It was amazing not to lose power with such an aggressive tire. I was doubtful that they would work that well, but Maxxis was spot on with their design,” regarded Blythe.

The tires worked very well in the mud. They pushed right through just about anything we put in front of them and Blythe didn’t need to use his 4WD option that often. The tires are aggressive enough to handle most situations in 2WD.

Another terrain that the tires excelled in was wet snow. They paddled right throughthe wet snow pack. The tires didn’t work quite as well in loose snow powder; they seemed to lose a bit of control if you were in higher speeds.

Blythe did find a few situations where the tires were lacking.  “If your gunned it from a dead stop in the grass or on hard pack the tires would just spin. You really had to gauge your take off speed to pull out without any issues on that type of surface,” said Blythe of the Maxxis Zilla Tires.

The Maxxis Zilla tires give so much grip it makes it hard to break the rear end loose into a slide, but they still are very predictable and provide plenty of forward traction

The tires also enable the machine to corner well, although sometimes it seemed a little too well.  The grip on the tires can hold a little too strong if the rider isn’t careful. It was difficult to slide the back end out, as the tires really kept the machine planted where it was put.

Our rider put nearly 400 miles on the Maxxis Zilla Tires and there wasn’t much wear on the set. They have held up great and despite a lot of hard riding on varying terrain there is still plenty of tread left.

Our overall thought on the Maxxis Zilla Tire is positive. Maxxis has yet again produced another great tire for all kinds of riding. Blythe agrees that it is a very versatile tire that works great in most situations.  The Maxxis Zilla fronts and rears come in several sizes to properly fit various ATVs and can be purchased anywhere Maxxis Tires are sold. And if you are heading out for a new set of tires for your utility ATV, the Maxxis Zilla Tires are well worth checking out!
