H-Bomb Films "National
Born Killers" ATV Motocross Racing Documentary
DVD Product Review
Perhaps the most compelling segment
of National Born Killers was Round 12 at Unadilla
in New Berlin, New York when the face of ATV Motocross
was forever changed when Jeremiah Jones was paralyzed
in a dramatic first turn pileup. With a slow,
somber song leading up to the wreck, your emotions
run high leading up to the life changing moment.

Jeremiah
Jones was on the top the world after his
win at Sunset Ridge, which moved him into
2nd Place in points, and the next round
his racing career was over in an instant,
which is well documented in "National
Born Killers" |
Following the tragic accident at Unadilla, Wes
Miller provides an in depth interview with Jeremiah
Jones. “This is all I’ve done for
12 years and you’re thinking in your head…
what am I going to do next? What’s gone
a happen to me?,” says Jeremiah as he reflects
on his injury, but also the film explores how
Jeremiah’s tragedy has affected his follow
competitors as well with Joe Byrd, John Natalie,
Pat Brown, Doug Gust, Keith Little, and Jeremy
Lawson sharing their views as to the impact it
had on not only them but the racing world as well.
As for the production quality of the National
Born Killers, Wes Miller once again produces a
top notch film. With some of the most breath taking
footage we’ve come to expect from the H-Bomb
Films, National Born Killers is right on par with
previous productions. Miller’s ability to
incorporate interviews in between racing footage
to tell the story of the 2006 season is second
to none. The tales of what it takes to be a professional
racer and the hardships endured are brought together
in one solid piece, which kept you clued to the
television from start to finish.

National
Born Killers provides a full range of video
angles from helicopter footage providing
a birds-eye view to an insects view of the
racing action |
National Born Killers delivers a heart thumping
sound track with some big names in the music industry
like Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins,
and Thrice. Miller spared no expense in the music
department, which was money well spent as the
music and action flow in harmony.
Despite spectacular presentation, there were
just a few flaws worthy of mention. Round 3, Gatorback
and Round 4, Echeconnee respectfully were presented
correctly in the standings but the action footage
was actually switched. With a quick call to Wes
Miller, he assured us the issue has been fixed,
for future DVD releases. The only other problem
in the movie revolves around the last two rounds
of racing. Some of the footage is clean while
other footage has horizontal lines going through
it as if it was shot in a lower grade format.
Although the action is still visible the lines
are distracting. On a side note the last two races
also felt thrown together compared to the previous
racing action.
Besides a few minor issues, National Born Killers,
provides viewers an in-depth behind the scenes
view of Pro ATV motocross racing that has never
been revealed to the fans on this level, and the
only ATV film that has come close was “Beating
the Odds” released by Premis. National Born
Killers has everything from action to interviews
and triumph to tragedy. Wes Miller continues to
prove why H-Bomb Films is one of the best in the
business and show no signs of slowing down. In
summary, National Born Killers is a must have
for any ATV enthusiast.
