The CASIO is also an excellent video camera. It
is able to shoot High Definition video which than
can be transferred to your computer or you can hook
the camera up to your HDTV via its Mini-HDMI port.
The quality is technically HD but there are signs
of heavy compression and you will see some artifacts
so don't go expecting that Blu-Ray quality you may
be used to. It claims full 1080 resolution but it
seems to be interlaced which does not work very
well when shooting fast moving object. However,
it is still a very handy camcorder and does OK in
720p.
My Favorite function is the 30-300 fps setting
where the camera shoots at 30 fps and when you
click the “ok” button it will immediately
switch to 300fps creating a scene similar to something
you will see in a Wes Miller film without any
advanced editing needed.
Who doesn't like exploring the world with the
ability to see things at 1200 fps? The camera's
slow-motion modes work well but when you start
getting toward 1200 fps its flaws are revealed.
When taking 1200fps video the camera simply struggles
getting enough light so unless you really spend
some time most videos will be very dark. Additional,
the resolution gets very small and for some reason
CASIO decided to give you a super super wide screen
resolution. 300 and 600 fps is very fun though.
You generally wont have much trouble getting enough
light and the the fun never stops while seeing
your environment in a whole new way.

The Camera has several pre-set shooting functions
geared specifically for different situations.
They could be the trick to getting that “Best
Shot” but I think with a little advanced
photography knowledge the settings are not needed.
For the average user, however, it could be just
what they need.
The Best Shot functions I liked the most are
“On Move-in” and “On Move-Out”.
You can set up the camera, preferably on a tri-pod,
and frame up a subject such as a birdhouse. Arm
the camera, and as soon as the camera detects
motion in the shot it will start snapping away
at 1-60 fps for 60 frames. This is great for shooting
birds and with a little creativity you can even
take a photo of yourself on your ATV.
The CASIO EX-F1 Camera is FUN! Theres no denying
it. I have to give major props to CASIO for going
above and beyond and giving us something no one
has ever really tried before. I had a very good
time shooting with the CASIO EX-F1 but it is definitely
just a consumer level camera and at a $1000 may
be a little more than I would want to spend.
I also need to say that when buying one of these
camera's, make sure you purchase a high speed
memory card. I personally used two 2GB Class 6
SD cards for the review however you can find Class
6 - 8GB SDHC cards for less than a hundred dollars
which is what I would recommend. Just make sure
the card is Class 6, meaning it meets the highest
speed ratings available thus far otherwise you
will not be able to enjoy the some of the more
intensive features on the camera.
