Aboard his YFZ450R, Walker Fowler scored his second XC1 Pro win of the 2014
GNCC ATV season with an inspired performance in Masontown, West Virginia
on Saturday afternoon, May 24. The N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha rider led nearly half
of the two-hour race en route to a convincing 11.7-second margin of victory over
defending series champion Chris Borich. Fowler’s win anchors him in second
place in XC1 points. Then starting in the next wave back, teammate Cole
Richardson took his fourth XC2 Pro Am win of the season, drawing him to within
five points of the XC2 championship lead with seven of 13 rounds now
completed.

Yamaha-mounted Jay Shadron grabbed the holeshot in the XC1 Pro race, with
the rookie impressively maintaining the position over Borich, Fowler and others
for two of the four scheduled laps. Intent on putting his second 2014 GNCC win
into the books, Fowler took control of the race just past the halfway point,
bringing rival Borich along with him. The pair engaged in a terrific seesaw battle
for the remainder of the two-hour event, but this time Fowler emerged victorious.
“Chris is really hard to beat straight up,” Fowler said. “I could see myself on the
box but I knew the win was going to be tough.”

In the following XC2 Pro Am
class, Richardson had a relatively easier race, leading every lap and enjoying a
big 4 ½-minute margin of victory over nearest competitor Marshal Goings.
