Union, SC (4/14/2014) - Yamaha racers earned podium finishes of their own during the weekend at the Big Buck GNCC, including a second in the XC1 Pro ATV class for N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha’s Walker Fowler and a third for Thomas Koontz, Jr. in the XC2 Pro Am ATV class on Saturday. Both riders were aboard Yamaha YFZ450Rs.

Walker Fowler finished second at the Big Buck GNCC

In the premier XC1 Pro ATV race on a warm Saturday afternoon, Walker Fowler grabbed the lead from rival Chris Borich on the first of four long laps. The pair raced in close formation for over an hour, with barely a second separating them each time they crossed the line. Finally on the third lap, Fowler was able to build up a six-second gap and appeared to be headed for the win. But he got stuck behind a lapped rider on the final lap, and the delay was enough to allow Borich to close the gap and shoot ahead. Nevertheless, with one win and two podiums so far this year, Fowler is a second in points with four of 13 rounds completed.

“I can’t seem to buy any luck – lapped riders just aren’t helping me this year,” Fowler said afterwards. “But I’m happy to leave here with another podium and will be ready for the next round.”
