Crawfordsville, IN (10/28/2013) - Yamaha ATV and off-road racers wrapped up the 2013 GNCC championship with podiums in several key classes in Crawfordsville, Ind. over the October 26-27 weekend. In Saturday afternoon’s XC1 Pro ATV event, Walker Fowler raced to his ninth podium of the year aboard his AmPro Yamaha YFZ450R, locking up second place in the championship in the process. While out at The Ranch in Anza, Calif. on Sunday, Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson also took third overall with 2-3 motos on his YFZ450R in the seventh round of the 2013 Yamaha Quad-X series.

In Saturday’s GNCC XC1 Pro ATV race in Indiana, Fowler slotted into a top-three start before forging his way into the lead on the second of five long laps. He held the lead from then until the midway point, lost and reclaimed it, and then battled with rival Chris Borich for the final win of the year. The pair dramatically swapped the lead back and forth in the final minutes of the contest, with Borich eventually leading Fowler and his YFZ to the checkers by just eight seconds after nearly 2 ½ hours of racing.
“Today was a lot of fun,” Fowler said. “The last lap I got into a rhythm and got a second burst of energy, and then did everything I could to battle with Chris. We both made mistakes, but he came out on top this time.”
