Thomas Brown & Chad Wienen went 1-2 at Loretta Lynn's ATV Motocross

Hurricane Mills, TN (8/12/2013) - Thomas Brown scored his first career AMA Pro ATV overall win aboard his Wienen Motorsports / Yamaha YFZ450R ATV in the 2013 series finale at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. on Saturday, Aug. 10. His 3-1 motos were just enough to put him on top of the box ahead of teammate (and recently crowned champion Chad Wienen), who finished second with 2-2 motos. The results also locked Brown into second place in the championship and also allowed Yamaha to win the 2013 AMA ATV Motocross Manufacturers Cup for the second year in a row.

Meanwhile, 1900 miles to the west in Southern California on Sunday, Yamaha Factory Racing’s Dustin Nelson scored his second podium of the year in the WORCS Pro ATV series at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, with teammate Josh Row fourth on another Yamaha YFZ450R ATV.

The first of two AMA Pro ATV motos was especially dramatic, starting with a thunderstorm that drenched the track just before the start. And then, hungry for his first overall win, Thomas took the early lead – only to crash on a tabletop on the third lap, somehow staying aboard in the process.

Brown regrouped immediately and started charging, ultimately finishing third behind John Natalie and teammate Wienen. The second moto went much better for Brown. He grabbed the lead on the second corner and held it all the way to the flag, locking into a terrific battle with Wienen at the end to finish virtually side by side. Brown dedicated the win to his late friend Caleb Moore.

Then in the 1 ½-hour long WORCS race in SoCal, Nelson started fifth, climbed to fourth almost immediately, and then advanced into third by the end of the second lap. He maintained the position despite a crash in a rocky sand wash, solidifying third place in the standings in the process.
