Adelanto,
CA (7/27/2009) -Yamaha YFZ450R
racer Justin Noss took his first career pro ATV
overall victory with 2-3 moto performances at
Racetown 395 in Adelanto, Calif. on Saturday,
July 26. In brutally hot conditions over 100 degrees,
Noss used the power and handling of the new “R”
model to perform strongly and consistently in
the twin 20-minute motos, and take the overall
win. Even better for Yamaha, fellow Yamaha riders
Jason Dunkelberger and Dustin Nelson finished
second and fifth overall, respectively, with Nelson
rebounding from a DNF in the first moto to take
the second moto win. He is now tied for the ITP
QuadCross championship points lead with rival
Jeremie Warnia.
In the first moto, Nelson started up front
and passed for the lead during the first of
10 laps. He then pulled out a nearly 12-second
lead on the rest of the field, and looked set
to take the moto win before being sidelined
by a minor electrical problem. Fortunately Noss
was there to pick up the slack, sliding into
sixth place at the start and then battling past
four riders to take second place at the flag.
“I feel like the whole bike is dialed
in – the suspension, motor and everything
was just perfect,” he enthused after the
event. “I’ve been racing Yamahas
ever since the two-stroke days and the 450R
is the best one yet.”
Determined to protect his series points lead,
Nelson was even more focused in the second moto,
and started third before lunging past early
leaders Sage Baker and Jason Dunkelberger on
a Yamaha, eventually stretching out a comfortable
eight-second margin of victory. “The handling
and power are awesome,” he said of his
450R. As for Noss, after overshooting the first
turn, the Yamaha rider rallied from inside the
top six all the way up to third to secure his
first overall pro win. “I am very happy
everything finally came together and I was able
to pull off the overall win,” Noss said.
Congratulations Justin!
