WPSA Racing Continues with Trauma Care Emergency
Services
2008 WPSA Powersports ATV Tour
Racing News
White Bear Lake, MN (1/4/2008) - After
a highly professional and successful alliance
with Trauma Care Emergency Services during the
2007 PowerSports ATV Tour, the WPSA announced
today that they will continue to provide all of
the riders, visitors and staff attending each
of their 2008 venues with what they consider the
ultimate in motorsports medical personnel by retaining
the services of Georgia based (TCES) Trauma Care
Emergency Services.
"TCES is a professional, special event medical
service and motorsports safety provider that we
feel sets the EMS standards for today’s
ATV racing community. Our goal, along with TCES,
is to ensure the well being of each and everyone
on site during one of our events. TCES provides
us with the assurance that we are doing everything
we can to promote safety and provide our racers,
families, friends and fans with nothing less than
state of the art emergency services," Kent
Lungstroum, spokesman for the WPSA, said.

McClain, co-owner of Trauma Care Emergency
Services & Medcart |
Trauma Care Emergency Services will travel from
their home base in Georgia to each and every event
on the 2008 PowerSports ATV Tour schedule. This
consistent familiarity with the operations of
the WPSA and national ATV racing events and venues
ensures the availability of EMS services unsurpassed
by any other ATV promotional group operating in
the United States today.
In a statement regarding Trauma Care Emergency
Services, Lewis McClain said, "My partner
and co-owner, Joshua Wheelis, and I, are pleased
that the WPSA understands the importance of professional
EMS services at each of their events. As a company
specializing in power sports events, we plan with
the local EMS and Fire agencies before we show
up at a venue, not out of necessity, but as an
expression of professional courtesy. By doing
this we are able to set up positive working relationships
and communication networks with local services
which allow us to offer a co-operative meshing
of these local services with our TCES services
resulting in state of the art emergency care."
McClain went on to explain some of the details
of TCES. "We maintain medical teams at each
race that are able to assess, triage and treat
any injury we may encounter and still have personnel
available for other injuries that occur. Our personnel
will not set foot on a race track unless they
have been trained and personally approved by myself
and Joshua. This maintains a very stringent level
of professionalism and situational awareness that
benefits everyone attending a WPSA event."
"Our Medcart along with our Track Response
Teams are outfitted with the same equipment that
is normally carried by an ambulance, plus some
that is specifically tailored for power sports
racing in order to handle any type of emergency
which could possibly arise. We provide our Track
Response Teams with specialized equipment and
training to aid them in doing their job safer,
faster and more efficiently. We insure that our
teams are all trained to work safely on ATV tracks
where most ambulance staff is not. Our teams have
over 10 years of experience working with power
sports events so we believe we have the perfect
setup for any venue of any size visited by the
WPSA’s PowerSports ATV Tour."
In addition to providing the services of Trauma
Care Emergency Services, the WPSA provides Participant
Accident coverage for ATV participants. This coverage
offers $3000 for Accidental Death and Dismemberment
along with $3000 Accidental Excess Medical Expenses
which covers any out of pocket expenses that a
participant may have that their primary health
coverage does not cover.
