Phoenix, AZ (9/17/2014) - Lonestar Racing/JRi Suspension’s David Flores beat the heat at round number eight of the 2014 WORCS series at Glen Helen Raceway and came away with the Pro-am ATV win.

There was a bit of a change for the Pro-am class as they started on the same gate as the Pro class for round eight.

“It was a good size pack, so it was pretty exciting off the start,” said Flores.
Flores got a good start and was running in second place. “It was pretty dusty for the first lap, so it was hard to see, but once everyone was spread out, I started pushing for the lead,” said Flores.

By the end of the third lap, Flores was close to the leader and getting ready to make a move, but a mechanical issue caused the leader to fall back and Flores inherited the lead.

“I felt bad for Mike Sloan, he was in the lead, and I wanted to have a good run with him and see just how far we could push it,” said Flores.

Once in the lead, Flores increased his lead and took the Pro-am win by a minute ahead of second place. “Being from Phoenix, I am used to hot weather, but even this got to me. By the last lap, I was feeling a little dizzy and vision was starting to blur, so I had to stay focused. I am really glad to take the win because it was a tough one, and my quad was handling great out there, so I really have to thank my sponsors for that,” said Flores.

On Saturday, Flores also had a good race in the Production A class. Flores lead for the entire race, but finished in second place due to a penalty. Despite the second place finish, Flores still has a strong points lead with 174 points.

“I wasn’t riding as carefully as I should have been, and I feel bad about that. I still have the points lead and I am hoping to take the win and a championship at Primm next month,” said Flores.

The final round of the 2014 WORCS series will head to Buffalo Bill’s in Primm, NV on October 17-19th where David Flores will be going for the top of the podium once again.
