David Flores Wins Production A at Sand Hollow WORCS
David Flores Second in Production A Class Points

Hurricane, UT (4/17/2014) - David Flores came on strong to take the win in the Production A class at round number four of the 2014 WORCS series at Sand Hollow, putting him second in the points chase.

Flores was about mid-pack off the start, but put the hammer down and by the second lap, had worked his way into second place. Flores also scored the fastest lap time in his class with a time of 12:00.6 in lap two. “I caught up to the leader late in the second lap and we were going through the dunes and I saw a really good line and took it. I was able to make the pass and start to pull away,” said Flores.

David Flores held his lead for three laps to take home the Production A win. “My quad was running awesome. My Lonestar set up with my JRi suspension was working awesome out there, and I couldn’t be happier with how that race went,” said Flores.

The Pro-am class didn’t go quite as well for Flores, however. “I was pretty confident and felt good about the race. As soon as the race started, my quad wouldn’t go. I put it up to about third gear and it finally started going. I came through the pack then and got up to about fourth. I came through the pits and shortly after that it just stopped working. I had to push it about a mile back and it turned out the clutch was burned up,” Flores explained.

Once back in the pits, the team worked feverishly to change the clutch, but in the process a bolt was dropped into the engine. “At that point we just decided to call it quits and be ready for next round,” said Flores.

Despite his bad luck at round four, Flores has had an impressive season so far, with two second places and one win in the Pro-Am class. Flores’s strong performance has allowed him to stay in the top three in Pro-Am points despite not being able to finish the race at round four, and he looks forward to make his return to the Pro-Am podium at round five of the 2014 WORCS series, which heads to Ridgecrest, CA, on Mother’s Day weekend, May 10-11th.
