Jeff Stambaugh
Wins WORCS Round 1 with his modified
Yamaha Rhino
|
Pheonix, AZ (2/01/2010)
Jeff Stambaugh took the UTV Class 3 holeshot
and win at Phoenix during
WORCS round 1, and is now preparing for round
2.
After winning the Class 3 championship last
year, and having the most
points out of all 3 UTV classes, Jeff rolled
up to the line ready to defend
the "1." After a great start and making
progress through some of Class 2,
Jeff and Greg Row had an encounter that left
Jeff with a broken tie rod
about halfway through the race. He ran back
to the pits and grabbed a spare
tie rod and tools and hurried to fix the Rhino.
"I knew how much time was
left, and I just wanted to get enough laps to
finish. If you don't do half
as many [laps] as the leader in your class you
get a DNF, and I knew that
would hurt me in the long run," Jeff said.
Luckily for Jeff, Greg Row, who
at this time was leading Class 3, ran into some
problems as well slowing
him down to a crawl. Jeff managed to beat the
clock and fix his Rhino, and
come from last place to 1st and win the first
round with 7 laps total.
Jeff finished 1st in class, and 8th overall
out of 13 UTVs in his Weller
Racing Powerd Yamaha Rhino. Jeff is currently
getting his Rhino prepped for
Primm. When asked about round 2 Jeff said, "I'm
looking forward to Primm. I
think it's going to be fast but rough, and the
competition this year in all
3 UTV classes will make it exciting to watch.
It will also be fun to show
the bike guys what a Rhino can do!"
