Weller
Racing Engines on the Podium at the Lucas Oil
Off Road Race Series in Arizona!
Chandler, AZ (10/22/2009) -Weller
Racing, LLC jumped back into short course UTV
racing with both feet last weekend at Rounds 9
and 10 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Race Series,
held in Surprise, AZ (www.lucasoiloffroad.com).
Unlimited UTV racer Austin Kimbrell and his XMF
built, Weller Racing powered Kawasaki Teryx showed
that his previous series wins were no fluke, as
he led most of Saturday’s race, until he
bicycled it in one of the last corners, letting
teammate Bobby VanBeekum around to take the checkers
and putting Kimbrell on the podium in second place.
Sunday’s race (and Round 10 of the series)
started out very similar, with Kimbrell taking
an early lead and using his Weller Racing motor
to pull ahead of his competition on every lap.
This time, Kimbrell would make no mistakes, and
took the checkered flag after a very exciting
three way battle with Walker Evan’s RJ Anderson
and Funco’s Chad George.
In the Limited UTV class, Tyler Herzog was also
able to put his Weller Racing powered Yamaha Rhino
on the podium both days with a 2-1 finish for
the weekend.
Running as an “exhibition machine”
and for no points, Corry Weller was asked to bring
her newly built Weller Racing/Tilted Kilt Yamaha
‘SR1’ Rhino out to the Lucas Oil race
to showcase its potential on the short course
track. Fans and officials alike were impressed
and excited about the possibility of LOORRS running
a whole class of the two-wheel drive, 6-speed
R1 powered Rhinos for 2010.
The final two rounds of the Lucas Oil Off Road
Race Series will be held in Primm, Nevada on November
14th and 15th .
