AMA Pro ATV Motocross - Round 6 - High Point -
Race Report
Mount Morris, PA (5/30/2008) - This Memorial Day weekend marked
the halfway point of the AMA ATV Motocross Nationals
where the Warnert/Can-Am team raced under sunny
skies and warm temperatures at High Point Raceway.
Cody Miller ran a consistent race once again
this weekend. The number 22 Can-Am came off the
line in mid pack in moto one, but became tangled
in a first turn pile up that put him towards the
back of the pack. Cody pushed hard and made up
three positions before crossing the finish line.
In the second moto, things were working more in
Cody’s favor as he came off the line in
10th place and negotiated the first turn without
any hang-ups. Cody charged hard and made his way
up to 6th place by lap 6, but in lap 9, Cody dropped
back to 7th but defended his position al the way
to the checkered flag, which put him in 10th overall.
Cody’s highest finish so far this season
was in round five at Sunset Ridge, where he placed
5th overall despite massive amounts of mud that
wreaked havoc on many other racers performances.
Cody’s consistency this year has earned
him a total of 97 points, and puts him in 11th
place of the points race, which is pretty good
considering the young racer missed the Pro season
opener at Glen Helen due to a health scare. Cody
continues to get faster and fine tune his technique
every time he hits the track. It will be exciting
to see what the rest of the season has in store
for him.

Despite John’s
bad luck this time, he is still doing
well in the points race and holds the
fifth position with 142 points.

John Natalie ran into a bit of bad luck this
weekend as he was caught up in the same first
turn pile up as his teammate, Miller. However,
John suffered mechanical issues, which forced
him to pull off the track in moto number one.
In moto two, John came off the line in 8th place.
It first appeared that his luck might change for
the better, but that was not the case as problems
from the first moto pile up were still plaguing
him. John once again pulled off in the 7th lap.
Despite John’s bad luck this time, he is
still doing well in the points race and holds
the fifth position with 142 points. Earlier this
season, John suffered an eye injury at Ballance
MotoX that became infected and has obstructed
his vision and given him quite a bit of pain.
Despite the trouble, “Ironman” has
continued to live up to his name and took his
best finish of the year at round five where he
claimed the 2nd position on the podium while still
not fully recovered. That round proved that the
extensive testing the Warnert team has done, in
combination with John’s competitive nature,
that he is still a threat in the championship
points race.
The next round of the AMA ATV Motocross Nationals
will have the Warnert/Can-Am team heading to Unadilla
in New Berlin, NY, on June 7-8. John and Cody
are looking forward to competing on one of the
best tracks in the country.
