Buchanan, MI (8/4/2009) - The 2009
AMA ATV Motocross Championship season has been an
incredible one for the Can-Am Warnert racing team
with Red Bud’s round ten being no exception
as John Natalie made an amazing moto two charge
to finish in the top five.
Can-Am Warnert Racing’s Cody Miller set
the fastest lap time during Sunday morning’s
qualifiers. Miller also was looking very strong
in the first moto as he was in fifth place off
the line. Miller held his position for most of
the moto, but fell back to seventh in lap nine.
Miller wasn’t about to give up and pressed
on to regain sixth place before crossing the finish
line. Unfortunately, a nasty moto two crash hampered
Miller’s efforts for a top five finish.
Luckily, however, Miller was not injured and despite
damage sustained in the crash, Miller continued
to ride and finish out his moto. “I was
feeling really good going into the second moto,
but I ended up crashing. I intend to make up for
it at Loretta’s. That’s one of my
favorite tracks and I think I will do well there,”
Miller said determinedly.

22, Cody Miller, on his Can-Am DS450 ATV |
In the first moto the number 13 Can-Am DS450
of John Natalie was looking strong. Natalie laid
down the second fastest lap time of the moto with
a time of 02:11.952 in the third lap. Natalie’s
speed soon had him challenging for a top five
position, but issues in the final lap set him
back. In moto two, Natalie was determined to make
up for it. Natalie came off the line in eighth
place and began picking off riders one by one
until catching up to veteran racer, Doug Gust,
who was holding down fourth place in lap five.
Natalie waited for an opportunity to present itself
and made the pass on Gust. Once in fourth, Natalie
was able to hold that position all the way to
the finish line despite pressure from Chad Wienen,
who was in hot pursuit. “Moto two went really
good for me. The bike was running great and I
felt really good out there,” said Natalie.
“I also feel good about going into the final
round. I like the track at Loretta’s and
I really want to be on that podium for the end
of the season.”
The final round of the 2009 AMA ATV Motocross
championship will be held at Loretta Lynn’s
Ranch on August 16th as the Warnert team will
be shooting for the podium.
