UXC Racing's Michael Swift Wins Powerline Park GNCC
Can-Am Renegade & Can-Am Maverick SxS XC Racing

Shelbyville, TN (10/22/2013) -It was a great weekend to be a Team UXC Racer and with two podiums including our first UTV win we have a lot to share!

The weather had been very friendly on Friday and Saturday with a little moisture on the track creating some slick spots. The fields were dusty but manageable. Getting into the woods provided much needed breaks from the dust and gave riders a chance to pull from the competition. There were two known “Bad spots”, big mud holes, in the track where a full size quad could disappear so after a walk around those had been noted and lines chosen should the need to pass become an issue for the next days race.

The start of the morning race had riders lining up on a slope with a slight uphill climb to the first turn. As Ricky Towery waved the green flag Team UXC racer Michael Swift twisted the throttle only to find his Can-Am Renegade spinning up the hill. This allowed other riders to take a front spot and Swift would be third at the wood line. It wouldn’t be long however as the number 207 U2 ride would break through to first and take the lead pack on through the woods on the 2nd lap. “We had a very god day and even with the big mud-hole jump and ponds in the road my Custom Axis shocks soaked up the hits with our Maxxis Vipers grabbing traction for us every mile of the race.” Stated Swift. “One other item we very seldom mention is the DP Brakes on our machine. Stopping a big heavy ride like the Can-Am Renegade is a tough task in the driest conditions but with all of the water holes and mud we had no problems at all with no brake slippage or fading. These truly are great products.” Explained Swift.

Swift would not only grab the first place position in his U2 class and first overall in Utilities for the morning but finished an impressive fourth overall for the day.

Don Higbee rolled out the 640 into the 4X4 senior class and scored a third place finish for the day. "We had a good run at round 12.  The Can Am renegade worked well and we were able to have a pretty clean run finishing on the podium for 3rd place.  There were 2 areas on the track that could end your day real quickly and we stayed clean through those areas."  We look forward to wrapping up our consistent season at the Ironman in 2 weeks.” Says Higbee. This has been Dons first full race season in the GNCC series and he has learned valuable techniques to keep him moving up the ladder of racer success.

Tayton Swift also had a great day on his new Apex machine in the 90-limited class for 8-11 year olds. Tayton was able to run mid pack moving up as far as 9th before a small incident moved him to 15th out of 17 at the end of the day.

Moving to the most exciting news of the day we proudly announce our first class win in the Team UXC number 108 Can-Am Maverick! Starting on the first row due to Team UXC racings growing success we rolled on the throttle at the dropping of the green flag to take the holeshot for the morning. “Heading into the woods with a small gap between our competition we knew it could be a tough day. Between bumping lap traffic and hanging bumpers together as well as sliding off into the huge mud sections we had a great fun race with no complications at all. Its great when we can enjoy a race and have fun. A perfect example of the humor we find in the race day was when we only slowed down enough for our awesome pit crew to throw goggles into the car. We never stopped and after Tranthem strapped his goggles on he politely dropped mine over the helmet and we pushed on to the finish.” Says Swift. The time between first and second in the UTV was one minute nine seconds and in those very competitive classes that is a good gap.

Evans coolant played a huge roll in keeping the UXC racing Maverick cool during the nasty race conditions the UXC pit crew gave us all they had all day long. Thanks to the special men and women on our pit crews who make these races possible and keep us moving with confidence each lap.

Its now onto the Iron Man in Crawfordsville Indiana and you can bet Team UXC racing will be ready!
