Team 698 Racing's Craig Kilner Leads British Quad Supermoto Points
2013 Norasport Open Quad British Supermoto Championship - Round 5

Team 698 Racing's Craig Kilner
Team 698's Craig Kilner earned the maxium points in all three races at Lakeland stadium, Rowrah

United Kingdom (7/5/2013) - Three weeks since Team 698 Racing’s Craig Kilner produced a scintillating ride to win at Blyton, he repeated the feat in spectacular fashion at the Lakeland Stadium for round five of the 2013 Norasport Open Quad British Supermoto Championship. Comfortably taking maximum points in all three races giving him a huge margin at the top of the championship standings.

With perfect weather conditions, the track had been superbly set-up as the championship welcomed some new riders to the competition. Having just secured new sponsor MX Torque with their range of Circuit Equipment handguards, Craig joined the qualifying session and immediately took pole position. A near off on the concrete burne was the only cause for concern and it showed as Craig couldn’t quite get into his rhythm in the off-road section.

Sitting pretty on pole for the first race, Craig confidently took the holeshot and immediately began to pull a gap on the rest of the pack. Powering through the straights and forgetting about those initial concerns in the off-road sections, Craig comfortably took the win followed by a good performance by Mark Beevers to take second and Joe Hodgson in third.

Another great start, another holeshot as Craig put his 500cc 2 stroke twin Rotax engine quad into the lead and again began to pull a comfortable lead. Enjoying the high spectator turnout, Craig didn’t let up and took the win with another huge gap. Beevers took second followed by Hodgson in third.

Just when things were looking like another comfortable lead at the front, Craig spun wide in race three which opened the door for the in-form Beevers to pass. The two riders battled it out throughout the race - much to the delight of the crowd before Craig used his straight line speed to power past and take the final win of the day. Beevers finished a close second with Hodgson in third.

Overall Standings:

Open Class
1.       Craig Kilner
2.       Colin Jackson
3.       Jonathan Dennan

450 Class

Craig commented: “It’s been a really fun day here at Rowrah. I’m really pleased with the win and that should consolidate my lead in the championship. The crowd here have been great! We’ve had a big turnout and the track has been superb. Mike and all the guys from NORASPORT have done a fantastic job. It was also good to see new riders Colin Jackson, Dougie Meek and Paul Bennett having a go. I’d also like to thank Hunslet Roofing Supplies for the new tyres - they made all the difference!”

Craig’s next race is round six of the 2013 Norasport Open Quad British Supermoto Championship, to be held at the ever popular Three Sisters track in Wigan on the 20th July. Thanks to Norasport and all the organisers at the track for making this event so enjoyable for both riders and supporters.
