#3 William Yokley, GNCC Pro Racer, Testing the
LTR450 at Glen Helen |
Chino, CA (2/8/06) - Factory Suzuki/Yoshimura
racer William Yokley is looking forward to 2006. The GNCC
racer will be riding on Suzuki's awesome new QuadRacer
LT-R450. The first race on March 5th in De Leon Springs,
Florida is coming up quick and Yokley just got his first
chance to ride the quad at the official Suzuki Press Launch
of the LT-R450 this last Wednesday at the Glen Helen Motocross
track in Southern California.
"This thing is pretty awesome," the Kentucky
racer said, "I've got to narrow it up some for
the woods, but man the power is smooth... and there's
a lot of it! I'm going to be working with IMS/Roll on
all the chassis stuff for the woods, big fuel tanks,
all that." Yokley quipped, "My motor man,
Chris Grissom, is going to have an easy time
with this thing. It's pretty darned fast bone stock."
William was putting laps in with fellow Suzuki teammates
Jeremiah Jones, and Doug Gust. "This motocross
stuff is a lot of fun but I really still like the woods,"
Yokley said, "The rougher and nastier the races
are the more I like it."
Yokley has been training for the new GNCC season riding,
biking and swimming. After spending his short off-season
desert racing and hanging out in the Florida Keys, Yokley
is ready to get back to work. With the new 450 just
coming out, Yokley has been training on last year's
LTZ-400 up till now. "The new machine is so much
lighter than the old LTZ," William said, "it's
a pretty noticeable difference for sure."
Having a reputation of a wild man on and off the track,
Yokley explains, "I always have a good time...
I like it a little exciting." He went on to say:
"This is my 20th year racing; I've always been
kind of a rambunctious kid."
Coming strong off of last season with a win at Loretta
Lynn's infamous Ironman season finale, William has a
lot of momentum going into 2006. "The Quad is great,
my program is good and I feel like this should be a
very good year for the team."
As cross country ATV racing grows leaps and bounds,
more and more people will be paying attention to the
28 year old as he prepares to battle it out for the
championship this season
