Canada (8/29/2008) - This
past weekend was round 5 of the Canadian championship,
it was my first race back from my injuries.
I couldn't ride for six straight week which
left only a few days to ride before the race.
The good news was that I was feeling good on
the bike and that most of the pain and limitation
was gone. My mind was set for race, I wanted
to win. Not an easy task considering the shape
I was in, but I beleived I could pull it off.
My game plan was simple, grap the holeshot and
ride smart.
First moto, I followed my plan to a T. I grap
the holeshot and pulled a bit of a gap on second
place. By the halfway mark, I was low batterie
mode...so I went on smoother line. I crossed
the finish line in first with a 12 second lead.
Second moto, my goal was to get to overall,
I was a bit tired from the first moto. I also
knew Jasmin Plante, who DNF the first moto,
would be right with me for the second moto.
On the start, I was able to steal the holeshot.
Jasmin, passed me in the first lap but I stayed
with him trying to get back to the lead. I made
a small mistake and he pulled a bit from, there
I remembered my plan and rode smart to cross
the finish line second but FIRST overall.
The weekend gave me enough point to climb back
into the lead for the championship, a mere 2
points on fellow Can-am rider Michael Ouellet.
