- The 7th Round of the ITP Tires Moose Racing
AMA/ATVA National Motocross Championship presented
by Parts Unlimited rolled into New Berlin, New
York this past weekend and so did the weather.
With a rock solid performance at round #6 still
fresh in his mind, a Pro-Am Production Championship
within reach, Mitch Reynolds focused on another
big point's weekend and that's what he accomplished.
In the Pro-Am unlimited Moto #1 on Saturday
Mitch finished with a respectable 4th after
a deep gate pick and a couple off track excursions
"I didn't get the best start and I got
pushed wide in the first corner, but I was very
happy with were I finished. The track was very
tight and there was not many opportunities to
pass" Reynolds said. In moto #2 Mitch got
a much better start and was able to keep pace
with the leaders finishing 3rd and 4th overall
in the Pro-Am Unlimited Class.
When Sunday rolled around, the track was in
great shape and the weather looked like it might
cooperate as well. In Moto #1 Mitch pulled the
Holeshot on his JB Racing, Baldwin Motorsports,
Sunrise Honda, but was unable to hold off the
hard charging Clay Holmes into the second turn.
Reynolds would hold the Second position for
a good gate pick in moto #2.

When the gate dropped in the second moto, the
nation's top twenty riders roared off the line
and into turn one. Coming out of the gravity
cavity Reynolds was in fourth place and reeling
in the leaders. On the second lap the skies
opened up with a torrential down pore that sent
the spectators running for cover and separating
the riders into two categories, those who could
and those who couldn't handle a mud race. By
the fourth lap Reynolds was out front till the
motor inhaled some water forcing him to slow
his pace and finish second. "I thought
we might get some rain, but I don't think any
of us were prepared for that much. My Honda
started running really rough so I backed off
the pace just hoping to finish. I really want
to congratulate Bobby on his win, he road a
smart race and it paid off for him" Reynolds
said after the race.

With a Second overall on Sunday Mitch moved
up into 4th in the points and still has a legitimate
shot at the Pro-Am Production Championship,
and is currently leading the ITP Grand Slam.
While all the other riders get a well deserved
weekend off between rounds Mitch will be in
Danville VA this weekend contending for the
ATVA Pro Extreme Dirt Track Championship in
witch he is currently second in points.
