Beau Baron worked his way center stage
in the Pro class at WORCS round 5 |
Toutle, WA (6/11/2009) - Mike
Cafro Racing’s Beau Baron smoked the competition
this weekend at round five of the 2009 WORCS series
to take over the Pro points lead, while newest
team member Josh Row came on strong to finish
in the top five.
Beau Baron was on a mission to take over the
points lead as he flew off the line in third
place and score the fastest lap time of the
race in lap two with an astounding 11:51.4 lap
time, and was using that speed to close in on
the leaders. Baron’s speed earned him
the lead in lap six and from that point on,
Baron began to pull away, finishing in first
place with a 25 second lead over second place.
“I’m really happy to take the win
and the points lead for the team. I’ve
been working really hard this season and I really
want that championship,” said Baron.
“I’m really proud of Beau, he did
a great job out there today,” said Mike
Cafro of his star rider.

Josh Row has been working hard and looks
forward to a podium finish |
Josh Row, who made his team MCR debut at round
four, also had strong results at round five.
Row was 6th off the line, just missing a first
turn pile up that slowed team manager Mike Cafro.
Row worked consistently and laid down some of
his fastest lap times to date. Row’s speed
and consistency allowed him to work his way
through the tight trails take over the number
four position in lap nine and hold that spot
all the way to the checkered flag. Row’s
strong finishes the last two rounds have bumped
him up to seventh place in the Pro points race.
“Josh Row has been training really hard
and has been getting better with every round
so we are hoping to see him on the podium at
the next race,” said Cafro.

Cafro suffered a fractured wrist and might
not race round 6 |
Mike Cafro, who is currently holding down the
number ten spot in the points chase had a tough
time of things this round and will probably be
out for the next round. Cafro was making a charge
through traffic when he hit a rough patch and
jammed his wrist, which was the same one he injured
in the past. The resulting fracture could have
him sitting on the sidelines indefinitely. “I
should be out of a cast by the next round, but
I don’t think I will be able to ride yet,”
said Cafro disappointedly.

Julie Russell hard charged to 2nd place
in the Womens A class |
Julie Russell held strong in the Women’s
A class as she powered off the starting line in
second place. Russell stayed consistent, despite
the tough woods section, and would ride to a respectable
second place finish almost two minutes ahead of
her nearest competitor.
Team MCR will be training hard over the summer
break as Baron will be defending his points
lead against the impending return of Josh Frederick
at round number six, which will have the team
heading back to Washington state where Baron
is hoping for his third win of the season.
