Savannah, GA (8/23/05)
The 2005 MX season is now officially over and it couldn't
have ended on a better note for the FMF/ Media Allstars.
Josh Upperman clinched the Pro-Am Unlimited
Championship in convincing fashion and backed up his
Championship with a third place overall in the Pro-Am
Production class for the year.
Hunter Johnson was within three
points of the Production B Championship going into
the final moto (no pressure there right), and almost
pulled it off. A monster first turn crash left him
sidelined with a broken tie rod, and his Championship
hopes went out the window. Hunter ended up third for
the season. Even though he quit contesting the 4 Stroke
B class at round six, Hunter also claimed an eighth
overall for the season in that class.
Angela Moore went to Loretta's with
hopes of clinching a 6th championship in the Women's
A class, all she needed to do was win and hope that
reigning Champ Heather Byrd finished third or worst.
Angela won, but Heather took second leaving them tied
in points with 255 points on the season. The tiebreaker
went to Byrd leaving Angela in 2nd for the year in
the Women's A class. Angela opted to skip the Open
A class in order to concentrate on the other class,
she ended up fourth in the Open A for the year.
Despite not racing the last three rounds due to a
broken arm Mark Kendall still managed
to bring home two top ten finishes in the Pro-Am classes
for the year. Fourth in the Pro-Am Unltd., and tenth
in the Pro-Am Production class.
Leslie Ragon's Women's B Class Championship
seemed locked up until she broke her wrist at Rd.
10. Missing the last three races left Leslie in Fourth
on the year.
Zac Willett's part time MX schedule
was good enough for 11th on the year in the 16-24
class, and an impressive 42nd in the Production A
class. The TT series is where Zac shines expect big
things on that side.
The Thompson Brothers (Casey and Patton)
spent much of 2005 away from the track due to injuries;
as a result they were well out of the top ten at season’s
end.
Team Manager Jorge Cuartas ended
up 14th in the Open B, and 18th in the +30 after missing
the entire second half of the season due to a broken
femur.
Despite injuries, first year gremlins, new equipment,
and everything else associated with new teams the
FMF Media Allstars have made a mark in their inaugural
year.
