Maxxis' ATV Racers Podium at GNCC, WORCS, & EDT
Maxxis / H&M Motorsports' David Haagsma Wins QuadX Round 3

Maxxis / H&M Motorsports' David Haagsma earned his second win of the season at QuadX Round 3

Suwanee, GA (5/8/2013) - Maxxis’ sponsored riders took to the podium at three major series over the weekend. Round 5 of the GNCC ATV was held May 4 in Park City, Kentucky, and Round 3 of the Quad X series was held May 5 in Anza, California. The Extreme Dirt Track Nationals kicked off on May 4 in Kinston, North Carolina.

At a rainy and muddy GNCC, Chris Borich remained undefeated for the season, with fellow Maxxis rider Taylor Kiser in second place. A last-place start and extreme mud conditions did not deter Borich, who had grabbed the lead by the end of the first lap. He traded the lead at several points with riders from a small group, which included the Maxxis-sponsored Walker Fowler. Fowler was unable to turn in his usual excellent finish due to a medical issue: his vision was hampered by mud which worked its way under his goggles and into his eyes.  The lead group also included Kiser, who took the front spot for a time. Late in the race, Borich was able to get around a mud-induced traffic jam to finish in the lead by a margin of close to four minutes.

GNCC XC1 Pro ATV Champion #1 Chris Borich continued his winning streak at Mammoth GNCC by winning the Overall on his Maxxis Razr Tires

Borich ran his normal Razr rear / Razr2 front tire combo. “It was just ruts everywhere, but the tires worked great,” he said. “I could pass anyone in the fields, just hooking up! In the tight woods and gnarly stuff I just pulled right through in every line that we needed to get through.” Kiser, on the other hand, said that he “went with the taller Razr Ballance rears for the mud and they had a ton of forward traction. I got off to a good start and even when the track continued to break down, my tires just got me through the mud and got me up front.” Borich, Chris Bithell and Walker Fowler lead the XC1 Pro class in points. Maxxis’ sponsored riders also did well in XC2, with Landon Wolfe’s third-place finish and Josh Merritt’s fifth-place performance. Wolfe is third in points for the class, with Brycen Neal in the overall class lead.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the country, another Maxxis-sponsored duo took top spots at a national race. Team Maxxis/H&M’s David Haagsma and Beau Baron were 1-2 overall at Round 3 of the Quad X series on Razr Xm tires. Haagsma took first in both Pro motos and Baron finished second in each.

Also sponsored by Maxxis is Brad Riley, whose several turns on the podium came at the season kick-off of the Extreme Dirt Track National Championship Series. Riley took third place in Pro, fourth place in Pro-Am and second on Pro-Am Unlimited. Fellow Maxxis rider Daryl Rath also had an excellent day, with sixth place in Pro and sixth in Pro-Am Unlimited. Kirby Cooke took third place in Pro-Am Unlimited.

Maxxis congratulates Chris Borich and David Haagsma on their victories, and thanks all of its riders for their outstanding performances.
