Defending AMA Pro ATV Motocross Champion #1 Chad Wienen earned his second win of the season at Ballance MX

Suwanee, GA (5/1/2013) - Chad Wienen rode Razr Xc tires to victory on a muddy course at Round 3 of the ATV Motocross National Championship Series, the Maxxis Bluegrass National. The win was the second of the year for Wienen, who leads the series’ Pro standings. The race was held April 27 in Oakland, Kentucky.

Wienen, who qualified first, got the holeshot in the first moto. He held the lead for the entire race, eventually winning by a 25-second margin.

“It was a great weekend,” said Wienen. “The [Razr] Xc tires were hooking up great. That first moto was picture perfect: I yanked a huge holeshot and held a big lead. The Xc was the ultimate tire out there today." Teammate Thomas Brown skillfully moved into the second place position after another rider’s mishap to take second place in the first moto.

After a difficult start in the second moto, Wienen made steady progress from seventh place to third, with a finish on the podium and an overall victory. Brown was second overall for the weekend with a 2-7 performance.

"Conditions were definitely muddy so we tried small and big tires,” Brown said. “The Xc's, the forward traction was just working. The first moto was a muddy mess, just sitting water on the track, and the Maxxis tires just kept pulling us through. We had a solid weekend." Wienen and Brown are first and third in the series’ Pro standings.

In other good news for Maxxis, Josh Upperman, Nick Denoble and Casey Martin all finished in the Pro class top ten, in fifth, seventh and eighth places. Upperman is also fifth in points for the class, while Denoble is seventh and Martin is tenth.

A Maxxis-sponsored rider won the Pro Am race as well. Brad Riley was 5-1 in the two motos and took first place overall. Riley is second in points for the Pro Am class. Maxxis’ Cody Janssen took the moto 1 win in Pro Am, but DNFed in the second moto due to a mechanical failure.

Maxxis congratulates Chad Wienen and Brad Riley on their victories and thanks all of its riders for their fine performances.
