Extreme Dirt Track ATV Champion - Zach
Wentz |
Spartanburg, SC (11/11/2008) -
Zachary Wentz has returned to the winner’s
circle, taking his fourth national championship
by winning the 2008 Duro Extreme Dirt Track
ATVA Nationals Series in the 51cc-70cc Production
Auto class. He took three 1sts and two 2nds
on his way to receiving the circuit’s
top spot.
On October 18, Zachary and his father Darin
attended the ATVA Nationals banquet at the Fort
Rapids Water Park Resort in Columbus, Ohio,
where Zachary received his #1 plaque and plenty
of applause from the crowd.
“This is the outcome we were shooting
for,” said Darin Wentz. “We worked
very hard in the off season. We have actually
been working with KYMCO USA perfecting this
machine for six years now.”
And this year the work paid extra dividends.
For good measure, Zachary took 2nd place in
the 51-70cc Shifter class as well. Racing in
two classes was a real test for the Wentz Racing
quad.
“The reliability and performance of the
KYMCO Mongoose is by far greater than any other
machine out there,” Wentz affirmed.
Wentz Racing is no stranger to the winner’s
circle. Zachary won the 2005 ATVA 50 FMF Extreme
Dirt National Championship, 2004 ATVA 50 Short
Track national title, 2004 MRA Scott USA 50
Mod class, and he was 2003 ATVA 50 Short Track
National Champion. That is quite a record, especially
considering that Zachary turns 11 years old
in December 2008.

Zachary’s title was the second of the
year for a KYMCO-sponsored youth racer. In August
Jesse Skvarek and his Mongoose 90 won the 90
CVT class in the ITP Tires/Moose Racing AMA/ATVA
National Championship.
“Next year,” said Darin Wentz,
“we plan to step up a class and campaign
on the new KYMCO four-stroke Mongoose 90. From
what I have seen so far, that machine is going
to surprise a lot of people.”
Although Zachary Wentz is obviously an accomplished
ATV rider, he has other interests, including
playing football, skateboarding, and Xtreme
BMX. Asked what accounts for Zachary’s
success at such a young age father Darin Wentz
answered, “He just really enjoys racing.
He likes to have fun and win.”
In addition to KYMCO USA factory support, Wentz
Racing is also sponsored by Bud Fisher and Fisher
Cycle, with additional help from Elko Suspensions,
Scott USA, Sprocket Specialties, Boyesen Engineering,
Troy Lee Design, Raff Racing, Magnum, DWT, ATVriders.com,
Moped Hospital and RPM axles.
Darin Wentz said he especially wanted to thank
Joe Wofford at KYMCO USA. “He really made
it all happen.”
