KYMCO USA Announces
ATV & Scooter Shoot-Out Winners of Summer
Spartanburg, SC (8/27/2009) - From May 1 through July 31, KYMCO
USA challenged its dealers to a sales shoot-out
that would determine the brand’s top producers
for the summer season.
After three months, the two top sales producers
were determined. The winner in the two-wheel
market segment was Robbie DeMeulenaere of K&W
Cycle in Utica, Michigan. He sold the most scooters
during the three-month period. Dustin Sweeten
of Powerhouse Motorsports in Pleasant Grove,
Utah took the four-wheel title by moving the
most KYMCO ATV and UXV side-by-side models out
his dealership’s door.
The two winners will take delivery of the grand
prize in their segment. For DeMeulenaere, that’s
a new KYMCO Xciting 500Ri Scooter. Dustin Sweeten
will receive a KYMCO UXV 500 Side X Side.
“I was totally caught off guard,”
said Robbie DeMeulenaere. “I didn’t
think I had a chance.” A veteran of 19
years at K&W Cycle, he believes that KYMCO
USA’s two-year warranty on all scooters
and motorcycles “puts them ahead of everyone
else.”
Dustin Sweeten said that the contest motivated
him to make sales. “I called customers,
gave test rides like crazy. I was trying to
win it. I’m not going to deny that. I
sold a lot of Mongoose 90’s and the UXV
500 side-by-side, a very popular model.”
In addition to the grand prizes, monthly winners
were named for the east and west sales regions.
The monthly prizes were KYMCO Super 8 150 scooters
and MXU 375 ATVs. As the top producer in the
west for both June and July, Dustin Sweeten
takes home two MXU 375’s in addition to
his grand prize. And Robbie DeMeulenaere gets
a Super 8 150 to park next to his Xciting 500Ri.
Under the contest rules, in order to participate,
salespeople were required to take an online
course at KYMCO University, the company’s
web-based training system. They could then register
each sale they made at the same web site.
“We wanted to motivate our sales force
to close deals,” said Steve Lazoff, Director
of Sales for KYMCO USA. “But we also wanted
to encourage them to use the sales training
tools that we have made available online. KYMCO
University is an easy way for new sales people
to get familiar with our products and for experienced
people to refresh their knowledge.”
KYMCO USA is also offering financial support
for a special motorsports training package developed
exclusively for KYMCO by The Glenn Roller Institute
of Scottsdale, AZ. Without leaving their dealership,
sales people can complete online exercises for
review, and, with an investment of only 30-40
minutes per day, they can graduate in about
6 weeks.
