Snowshoe, WV (6/28/2007) -
Hot off a win at the opening round of the Extreme
Dirt Track Series, Tim Farr switched venues to
compete aboard his new KTM Sport ATV in round
8 of the Grand National Cross Country Series in
Snowshoe, WV.
The Snowshoe event took place at a West Virginia
ski resort that is new to the GNCC circuit.
Many riders compared this track to the legendary
Blackwater race as the course included steep
hills, huge rocks, mud holes, dust, and tight
woods. The experienced Pro riders said this
was the toughest course in which they have ever
competed.
The race began with a LeMans style start in
which Farr, unfortunately, picked row sixteen,
the last starting row for the Pro and Pro-Am
riders. Farr had his work cut out for him as
he began to pick off the 60 riders that started
ahead of him. After the first lap, Farr had
worked himself up into the top 25 riders. The
course continued to get more challenging each
lap and bottlenecks occurred at many areas on
the track. Farr came off the quad on the second
lap after hitting a rock in a dusty section
of the track. It took several minutes for him
to get going and he was once again forced to
work his way forward. After the fourth lap and
the checkered flag, Farr had worked his way
up to a 7th place finish in the Pro-Am class
and 24th overall.
“The stock KTM worked flawlessly”,
said Farr following the race. “This was
a tough track and I learned a lot. I hope to
be back later this season in an attempt to better
my finish.”
The race will be televised on Versus August
11 at 3:00 PM, August 15 at 3:30 PM, and August
16 at 4:00 PM.
