Bowling Green, KY (2/28/2008)
- Before his devastating crash in 2006, Jeremiah
Jones was one of the fastest and smoothest
racers on the MX track. His speed and skill
allowed him to claim three MX championships
throughout his career and earned him the respect
and adoration of many. Despite his injury,
Jeremiah has remained active in the racing
community as the rider coach and team advisor
for Suzuki, and has recently joined forces
with 8-time GNCC champ, Bill Ballance, to
put on a top notch riding school.
“Bill and I have been friends for over
15 years, and this is something we had talked
about doing for a long time,” said JJ.
The class will cover all the basics of riding
including starts, jumping, cornering, and
whoops. The class will also go into detail
about bike set up and the importance of nutrition
and exercise.
All though the school will be held at Jeremiah’s
private MX track, the instruction and training
can be applied to both motocross and cross
country types of racing. “The class
will lean more towards MX, but Bill and I
plan to use our combined knowledge to help
the students with any type of racing situation,
whether it be MX or XC,” Jeremiah stated.
All skill levels are welcome, however riders
must be at least 10 years of age to participate.
The two-day class is limited to 12 students
and will be held April 5th-6th. Saturday classes
will start at 9am and go until dark with Sunday’s
class starting at 8am and concluding sometime
mid-day.
Students are required to wear proper safety
gear including helmets, goggles, chest protectors
and boots. There are no nerf bars or tether
kill switches required to participate. Riders
should come fully prepared as if they were
going to the races for the weekend, bringing
food, water, and any tools and equipment they
may need. “They can either camp out
at the track or stay at one of the local motels,”
said Jeremiah in regards to offered facilities.
“At the end of the class each students
will get T-shirts and certificates,”
Jones said.
According to Jeremiah, this is to be the
first of several classes that he and Bill
are planning to conduct. “We’ll
be announcing more dates soon. We want to
see how this first class goes and then make
any needed changes or adjustments to the program,”
JJ concluded.
