JB Racing's Duck Lloyd Third in Junior 22+ at Mammoth GNCC
JB Racing's Sam Williams Earns Third in 4x4 Open Class

Sam Williams - Can-Am Outlander Utility ATV
JB Racing's Sam Williams made the most of his 4WD on his Can-Am Outlander Utility ATV at Mammoth GNCC. Williams currently sits third in the 4x4 Open Class

Bowling Green, KY (5/8/2013) –The fifth round of the Grand National Cross Country Series looked more like a tough mud bog than a cross country race. Three consecutive days of rain pounded the course making one of the toughest tracks even tougher. Cheerwine’s Duck Lloyd finished third in the Junior 22+ class while Sam Williams put his Can-Am Outlander to work in the 4x4 Open class, earning third. Jarrod McClure finished eighth in the XC1 Pro Class.

Junior 22+ class point’s leader, Duck Lloyd, put in another stellar race at the round. Lloyd was fifth off the line, but quickly moved into second. He and the class leader started to pull away until they caught a bottle neck and lost positions. Lloyd charged ahead and worked to make up time and positions.  He moved into back into second by the end of the first lap. He continued there until lap three.
“I actually passed the class leader on the last lap and was starting to put some time on him, but got stuck on a hill and it took me several minutes to get going again. I ended up crossing the line in third,” said Lloyd of his race.

Lloyd’s third place finish is enough to keep him in the lead of the class. “I just want to finish strong. There are a lot of tough guys in my class but I know I can do it,” regarded Lloyd of his chance at a Junior 22+ Class championship.

Sam Williams put on a hard charge in the 4x4 Open Class. Williams took advantage of having 4WD at the sloppy race and battled his way to third on lap one. Williams charged ahead and took over the second spot on lap two. He dropped to third on the final lap after deteriorating conditions and lappers made the track nearly impassable.  Williams is currently ranked third in the 4x4 Open Class.

Jarrod McClure - Can-Am DS450 ATV
JB Racing / Can-Am's Jarrod McClure placed 8th in the XC1 Pro Class, despite working his way up from the rear of the pack after getting stuck in the deep mud

Driving rain soaked the XC1 Pro class before Jarrod McClure even took off from the starting line. McClure had a mid-pack start and was bounced off the track as the XC1 Pro’s entered the woods. McClure landed in deep mud and it took him a while to get him Can-Am back onto the track. Once he started moving he had to work his way through much of the pro-am class to even start working on the pros. McClure was in 14th at the end of lap one, but charged hard through the thick slop to gain positions each lap.

“The mud really added to the toughness of the race. It was hard to see and you had to ride really smart to make any progress,” said McClure.

McClure rode smart and took over the eighth spot on the last lap. His end of the race charge helped him earn valuable points in to championship chase. McClure is currently ranked seventh in the XC1 Pro Class.

“Overall I am happy with the day, considering the conditions, it could’ve went a lot worse. My pit crew worked really hard and the Can-Am didn’t have any issues,” regarded McClure after the race.

The JB Racing / Cheerwine Team will again move to the starting line at the sixth round of the Grand National Cross Country Series in just two weeks in Springville, Indiana. There is no doubt that each of the JB Team racers will head to the line at the Limestone 100 looking to win.
