DWT’s Jarrod McClure Fifth at Big Buck GNCC

Union, SC (4/17/2014) - DWT/ Jarrod McClure Racing’s (JMR) rider Jarrod McClure finished fifth in the XC1 Pro ATV this past weekend at round four of the GNCC racing series in Union, SC. JMR teammate XC2 Pro Am racer, Randy Hamilton, finished in the seventh spot at the Big Buck GNCC.

Round four of the GNCC series was held in Union SC. Unlike the previous round the weather decided to cooperate, with the forecast looking like a hot, sunny summer day. This was the 18th running of the GNCC series at Big Buck, so racers were expecting a worn in and tough track. After the morning race, the course had been tore up badly, down to the tree roots in many places making for a rough two hours for the afternoon racers.
McClure had a third gate pick due to being tied for second in the points, and it worked to his advantage on the start. The first few turns were very dusty, McClure was able to stick with the leaders checking in the first lap in third just behind Fowler.

“I had a great start once again with my Baldwin motor, and felt awesome the first lap. Chris and Walker started pulling away, but once I got around a few guys I was able to push hard and catch back up to them. On the second lap, I clipped a rock or tree pretty hard, and lost the air out of my front tire just running on the balls. As the day went on, I knew I was loosing some balls and it really wore me out fighting the low tire,” said McClure.
Track conditions deteriorated with each passing lap, but McClure overcame the obstacles to secure a fifth overall for the day on his DWT Honda. Despite having some minor issues, he kept pushing hard and gained some valuable points, and he is still in the top three in the 2014 GNCC Racing Pro ATV Championship point’s standings.
“I am happy with a top five for the day. The track was really rough out there, and this has been the warmest weather I have ridden in since the fall of last year! I want to keep clicking off these top five finishes, but I need to get on that podium, that is really the goal. You got to be up there every race,” said McClure.
JMR’s XC2 Pro Am Racer, Randy Hamilton, battled mid pack all day and settled for a seventh place finish, which also currently has him seventh in the championship race as well as he chases after his first podium finish of the season.
For round five of the GNCC series, racers are headed north to Indiana for the Limestone GNCC in two weeks on April 26th where McClure and Hamilton are both going for a spot on the podium and the win.
