Iowa ATV Hare
Scramble Series 2008 Race Season Preview
Montezuma, IA (4/18/2008) -
The Iowa ATV Hare Scramble Series (IATVHSS)
will kick off its 5th season on April 19th-20th
with one new facility added to the roster, a new
class for beginners, and they have also added
several new sponsors.
According to series promoter, Andy Kyner, this
year the growing series has added Hanson Hollows
in Spragueville, IA to its list of hosting tracks.
“We added Spragueville, in eastern Iowa,
but we won’t be going to Waukon this year,”
said Kyner. For the 2008 season there has been
a new “1st Year Racer” class added
to the line up in hopes of drawing in new participants.
The series boasts 18 classes total that range
from beginner to expert skill levels and age ranges
of 4-50+ years old, so there is pretty much a
class for every one.
Kyner indicated that the rules for the 2008 season
are the same and that there is still a $500 purse
up for grabs at each race for the winner of the
AA Class as long as the class has a count of 10
or more riders.
This year in addition to returning sponsors such
as Van Wall Motorsports and Hornung Cycle and
Powersports, the IATVHSS also has several new
sponsors including DMC Exhaust, Xtreme Charge,
and Precision Racing Products. “We’re
excited about the growing support that we have
been getting. It really helps to keep things going
for us,” stated Kyner. And keeping the series
going and growing is what it’s all about
for Kyner. “This year we handed out 125
new numbers,” said Andy. The addition of
125 racers would be a significant increase for
the series as it had an average attendance of
about 200 last year, representing eight different
states.
Kyner anticipates that many of those added numbers
will come in the form of kids and families since
the series is known for being a kid-friendly,
family oriented event. “We have several
teams out there that have several generations
of family all racing,” Kyner said proudly.
“A lot of those families also dedicate a
lot of time helping with the series, and we really
couldn’t do it without them,” he concluded.
The season opener of the IATVHSS will be a special
2-day event held at Fun Valley in Montezuma, IA
with motocross racing on Saturday and Hare Scrambles
on Sunday. You can check out www.iatvhss.com
